Girls club in Nanumba re-sensitize on the COVID 19 Safety protocol adherence.

The noble corona virus continues to be a threat in the socio- economic development of every nation. Realizing its negative impact on the education of the girl child, girls club member in Nanumba organized re-sensitization on the need for every student to strictly adhere to the safety protocol of the noble corona virus. The leadership took their members through practical application of some of the protocols. Aisha, 13 years old girls club president of kassimiya Islamic primary school told her colleagues not to downplay the existence of the virus especially the new variant that has been discovered. The sensitisation also touched on some misinformation that is going rounds about the vaccine that goverment has procured to vaccinate Ghanainas saying it causes infertility problems and so people must not put themselves out to be vaccinated. The sensititation educated participants to disregard these kinds of information as untrue and unfounded.

She said even though the rate of infection has reduce and the number of recoveries cases has increase, Ghana still battle with one thousand one hundred and fifteen cases (1115) as at 14^th June 2021. She encourage her colleagues to continues washing their hands under running water with soap, practice social distancing, use nose mask, and always visit hospital any time they experience unusual sign and symptoms in their body. A total of one thousand two hundred and twenty –five girls in Nanumba took part in this exercise. Aisha has this to tell her colleagues in their meeting.

“The noble corona virus has affected our education seriously and that everyone needs to take extra caution in order not to be second victims of this pandemic. When you get yourself infected with this virus as a student, you are most likely to be isolated from family and friends for number days. This may have negative impact on your academic, since many of our instructional hours has already been wasted by the virus due to closure of school and other institutions and business. I therefore urge all girl club members to strictly wash their hands with soap under running water, use nose mask at open and crowded places, practice social distances and avoid shaking hands with people”

Aisha, after explaining every safety protocol, always demonstrates for her colleagues to have better understanding for proper adoption and practicing in school and at home.

Girl s on peer education against corona virus

The fight against corona virus required collaborative efforts of all person at all level in the global world. To join this global fight, girls club members in Nanumba after the re-opening of schools after schools were closed down for a long time started the term activities by embarking on peer education on the preventive measures of this virus, they educate each other at their club level to ensure every one understand and obey the safety protocols against the noble corona virus. They engaged colleagues on the need and better ways of using personal protection equipment’s such Nose mask, Hand sanitizers etc, to prevent themselves and others form contracting this virus especially now that the rate of infections in northern part of Ghana is gradually increasing than previous

19 years old Aramatu, a girl club member from Nanumba (JHS2 student from Tadamuni Islamic school), led her colleagues to discussed ways of preventing corona in her school. She discussed preventive measures such as: Always wear your face mask in the midst of people, use hand sanitizer anytime you come in contact with others , practice social distance and wash your hand with soap under running water. She demonstrated the best way of wearing face mask to her colleagues and how to use hand sanitizer. He colleagues were happy receiving this education form their leader. They demonstrated clear understand of what was discussed by their leader and committed to practicing at all time in and out of school. To express her excitement on the leading role discharge in the fight against the global pandemic, noble corona virus, this is what Aramatu had to say: I am very happy to lead my colleagues on measures to prevent the noble corona virus in my community, country and the world as whole. In our effort to join the fight against this pandemic as girls club, we have embarked on peer education where leaders take members through some essential topic on the preventive measures of this virus. And as a student leader I was fortunate to be among those selected to receive education on the noble corona virus by songtaba. I thank songtaba and their partners for such wonderful support and hope to receive more of such education and training from them.

This kind of wonderful effort from the girls is practice in all the programme school in Nanumba. A total of 1225 girls from 19 programme school are currently benefiting from this education on preventive measures on corona virus.

GIRLS MEMBERS ON COVID 19 PREVENTION AT SCHOOL

The Fight against COVID 19 is a collective responsibility of all persons at all levels. Every key satke holder needs to join hands to defeat this global pandemic, it against this background that Songtaba has supported leadership of girls club in Nanumba to share experiences with class people and school mates in the prevention of the noble corona virus. Humaiya, 16 years old girls club executive at Nakpayili junior high school took a bold step to discuss with her class students on her experiences from the training she received from Songtaba on how to protect herself and colleagues against corona virus. She encourages her colleagues to always use face mask, hand sanitizer and frequently wash their hands with soap under running water. She demonstrated to them on how to wear face mask and to apply hand sanitizer. She told them not to keep their facemask and hand sanitizers at home without using them. She said it was for a good reason each student was given facemask and hand sanitizers by the school from the donation of Philanthropies and Non profits including Songtaba and partners.

Ghana education service in their quest to support fight corona virus, gave personal protection equipment to all final year students at both Senior and junior high schools across the country after they were called back to school to sit for their final year exams. Each student took home two facemasks and 200ml bottle of hand sanitizer. However many student do not attached much importance to the usage and claimed it has several discomfort.

Realizing the critical roles personal protection equipments play in defeating this global pandemic, Songtaba supported girls club to share with colleagues on the need and importance of using personal protection equipment at public places and other important gatherings. The girls were equally inform to avoid crowded places where necessary and adhere to world health organization and government of Ghana safety protocols on CONVID 19 prevention. They were also told to share with colleagues on best practices and behaviors that promote fight against the deadly virus (COVID 19).

This public sensitisation has contributed a lot to reducing the risk of infection among schools ouoils in Nanumba, and this was made possible by you kind donation
