On June 9, 2014, the Boys & Girls Club of St. Charles County opened the doors of its new facility located at 1211 Lindenwood Avenue, St. Charles, MO. This was first day of summer camp. Many things happened during the 10 weeks of summer camp. But most importantly, the Boys & Girls Club provided over 10,000 meals and snacks to the children it serves. These meals were provided free of charge to any child in the facility at serving time. The meals and snacks met the federal guidelines of nutritious foods and beverages. Being in the new facility has provided the Boys & Girls Club the ability to serve more children and provide more programs.
It became apparent that we could no longer remain in the old club located at 1400 Olive Street, St. Charles, MO. The roof leaked so badly and to make the necessary repairs were to costly. The leaking roof caused much damage to equipment and items that were necessary to provide the programs. Many costly repairs were becoming an issue. It was becoming impossible to provide IT support to the administration offices and classrooms.
Raising the full cost of the facility before construction could begin was out of the questions. It was imperative that we miniize the amount of time that the Club would operate in the old facility. Therefor we are continuing to raise funds to meet the goal of $7M.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County are extremely important to the community. Currently we are serving over 1,500 children. They are taught to achieve academic success, life a healthy lifestyle and be of good character. Our program are all fashioned after our core values. It is our goal to put all our children on a path to a Great Future. It is important that we reverse the most negative trends facing young people today. One way is by recognizing the importance of our-of-school time. This time is essential, yet often overlooked, as we transform kids lives and America's future.
