The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County has developed a STEAM (Science - Technology - Engineering - Art - Math) Program. The first portion of the program to be implemented is Robotics. The children served at the Boys & Girls Club do not have the opportunity to develop their STEAM skills and prepare for a brighter futures. In the extreme near future, 80% of all jobs will be STEAM related. This is one of the reasons that the Club must step up and introduce our members to STEAM projects.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County recognizes the need for its members to be exposed and engaged in STEAM (Science - Technology - Engineering - Arts - Math) related programs. The elementary schools do not have the capability to provide the STEAM projects on a regular basis. Therefore the Boys & Girls Club recognized the need to establish the program. The children are taught, how to work together, how to share, how to develop a program, how to do research and how to gain knowledge.
This project will help our children know that a career in STEAM is for most all segments of the workforce. In the next few years, 80% of all jobs will be STEAM related and our children must be prepared. Many of our members are not exposed to the STEAM programs and are not comprehending the fact that their future may well depend on their knowledge to secure a gainful future. This is why this program is so important. STEAM will expose our children to their future employment positions.
The long-term effect of the STEAM program will be the fact that the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County members have been exposed to future positions in the employment world. The Clubs members will be equipped with the knowledge and desire to research and seek out a potential employer that will allow them to become a gainfully employed adult with a promising future.
