The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County will soon be relocating to its new home. Construction is on track and moving days remain to be the last two weeks in May. This is an extremely important time for the Boys & Girls Club of St. Charles County. Once in the new facility, programs will be expanded as well as added. There will be a State of the Art Computer Lab. The children will be taught and encouraged to participate in IT programs that will enhance and assure them of academic success. Currently many of our members are not provided with the accessibility of computer usage. In keeping pace with other programs and continuing education, being knowledgeable of computer usage is imperative to perform and succeed. There will be a new commercial kitchen where the food program will continue. Currently we have served over 23,000 free meals and snacks to our members during the past year. 65% of the children we serve are considered to be "at risk", meaning they and their family are in the low income level. For many children, we are their main source for their evening meal.
We have not reached our goal of $7.2M for the new facility but the need to move from the current Club became an immediate necessity. We currently need to raise an additional $2M to cover the cost of the new Boys & Girls Club of St. Charles County. The new Club will replace the current 50 year old facility that has a leaking roof, making it impossible to use the gym on some days. Repairs have been attempted but to no avail.
Your help and support is greatly appreciated and helps us help those who need us the most. It goes without say, that we will be able to serve many more children as we open our new doors in May 2014.
