Speech on birds rescue and handling
Jivdaya Charitable Trust is honored to be a part of the “Karuna Abhiyan” (A mission initiated by the Government of Gujarat, determined to save the lives of innocent birds who might sustain injuries in Uttarayan Kite festival) organized by the forest department, Gandhinagar with the collaboration of the department of zoology and botany of Gujarat college. More than 300 students have participated in the program where one of our honorable trustees Mr. Kartik Shastri had explained the importance of the birds in our lives and why and how to conserve them and our hospital curator Mr. Sherwin delivered a speech on bird rescue, handling and first aid. The entire program was supremely informative as there were different speakers shared their part of the knowledge to complete the event.

Workshop on 'Handling Avian Emergencies
By Ratiranjan Mahapatra | Program manager
Every year during Uttarayan(kite festival) Jivdaya Charitable Trust’ organizes a mammoth camp call ‘USBC(Uttarayan Save The Birds Campaign) where we need a team of knowledgeable and well-trained avian Veterinarians/Vet students who treat thousands of innocent birds who are the victim of deadly glass coated thread (manja). Avian handling is not a common and easily available training in India, keeping that fact in mind Jivdaya Charitable Trust’ has conducted an ‘Avian Emergency Handling’ workshop on 14th & 15th of December. Where all the participants have received detailed knowledge of avian handling through classroom and hands on training and covered subjects like- Rescue, handling and transportation, Physical examination and first aid, Avian anesthesia, Avian soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, Postoperative care and physiotherapy.
Surely this workshop will help to sharpen the skills and knowledge of the Veterinarians/ vet students to save thousands of avian lives successfully in the upcoming event of Uttarayan2020.
We request your strong association with our projects to continue the work of saving thousands of speechless birds in the upcoming Uttarayan Save the Birds Campaign 2020.

Preparation for Uttarayan Save Birds Campaign 2020
By Ratiranjan Mahapatra | Program manager
Pre-preparation for Uttrayan 2020
People paint their houses during the festive season. We also paint our home (Jivdaya) during another festive time. This is a very different kind of festival for us. The festival is called ‘UTTARAYAN’. On 14th and 15th January the entire nation celebrates ‘UTTARAYAN’ by flying kites but those two days we celebrate something else at ‘JIVDAYA’, we celebrate ‘LIFE’. Jivdaya treats thousands of birds who get severely injured by glass coated thread (manja). We find our joy by saving all those innocent speechless lives who have no clue about the festival or the deadly manja. During this time a huge group of vets, vet assistants, volunteers and other team members come together under one roof to make the impossible things possible. But like every other event this event needs preparation too. These are the few tiny glimpses of the preparation work just to mention that in our team every member is important. Like these hardworking the members.
We need your support to save thousands of speechless birds!
