New normality, same work: Social Integration

By Candelaria Lopez | Project Leader

New Normality, same work: Making network for social integration of children without parental supervision.

Hogar Colibríes Home is a specialised care home for children in complex situations. The Home works from multidisciplinary approaches that respond to biopsychosocial and community circumstances. The main objective of the Home is to facilitate the reunification of the child/children with their family or to carry out the process of adoption with a new family.

The pandemic has made securing the reunification or adoption of children difficult. Nevertheless, successful reunification processes have been achieved during the pandemic. In addition, Hogar Colibries, despite being a transitory home, seeks to ensure that the children's stay there responds to all their physical, psychological and affective needs through a necessary intervention of the subject.

In the last months, as a response to the vaccination, it was imperative for the project the recovery of the presential spaces. These promote the integration and recreation times of the children in the Home by returning to a full calendar of activities that has not lost sight of the care and mitigation of contagion (measures that continue today).

Among the activities carried out over the last four months, various celebrations such as Children's Day and weekly activities promote recreational and educational spaces for children.

The task of family reintegration and adoption proposed by the project, while seeking to ensure the full guarantee of rights during the time spent in the temporary Home, is a very demanding task for the organisation and especially for the direct workers of the project. This tireless work is demonstrated in the successful reunions, adoptions and stays for its population and being part of this process is a great comfort to us. For this reason, we would like to thank the workers of the Hogar for their daily work, the organisations that accompany us and, of course, you who donate every month to achieve social integration and the guarantee of rights for all the children that have been in the Hogar Colibríes.

Thank you very much
