Temporary Home for Children in Argentina

Over the years, the Temporary Home “Colibríes” has been a containment and support space for children who went through complex situations during their childhood. For this reason, our professional team provides physical and psychological protection.

After a challenging 2020, from Mensajeros de la Paz we carried out the “Back to school” campaign, in which we were able to equip our children of Colibríes with new school supplies of very good quality so they can start classes with all the energy!

We decided to ask Graciela, the Director of Colibríes, about the feelings that this campaign left her, and she expressed excited: “I know the effort involved in a campaign of this magnitude, but it is well worth doing.” Likewise, she told us about how crucial it is that the children can have the possibility of choosing: “For children growing up away from the socio-affective nucleus to take care of them, these actions are really transcendent in the institutional sphere. You do not know how much impact a gesture of love has in their lives. Thank you a lot!”

The temporary home called Colibríes provides specialized care to boys and girls who lived complex situations of rights violation and must remain, momentarily, away from their family. The primary purpose of the household is to offer a contention space for the hosted population. We work to ensure the restoration of their rights, protecting their dignity.

August 16^th is childhood´s day and this year caught us in the middle of a challenge: the pandemic.  For this reason, from Mensajeros de la Paz we support more than 100 children that participate in our different projects, with different presents as toys and other games to encourage recreation through playing. These toys help them in their development and welfare because children are the ones who have suffered most the isolation.

Furthermore, on September 21^st we celebrate spring day with volunteers and collaborators. We made a great celebration for both children and elderly adults. We are all doing our best to deal with the pandemic assisting children who need us in these crucial times.

We want to deeply thank all persons, collaborators, organizations and partner associations, to our network of godmothers and godfathers who, despite the distance, have accompanied and helped us to provide a game to each child and a celebration that generates a pleasant experience they will not forget.
