“Education does not change the world, it changes the people who are going to change the world” (Paulo Freire).
Hello everyone,
It is a pleasure to greet you and write to you through this medium. Incredibly, we are less than two months away from the end of the school year. To be honest, I haven't felt at what point so much time has passed. However, I am very happy for the accomplishments and activities we have done with our children and teachers to continue to change their future.
We recently had our teacher training with the entire “Let's be Ready” group. Together with the director: Sarita, we organized a very different workshop from the previous ones; with the objective of not burdening our teachers too much with the topics and to do something different and not repetitive.
We continued to update ourselves on the new planning from the Ministry of Education (CNB), clarifying many of the doubts we still had. Thanks to the research of Seño Roselia, who presented this part, we have a better understanding of how to plan our classes.
Now that we are about to finish the school year, we also shared simple ideas made with recyclable material on “art”, “reading and writing”. Each teacher made a presentation of two to three ideas of what they have done or found to do at the end of the year. Most of them were very creative and showed us new ideas.
Another part that I really liked was the “teacher interview”; each teacher sent us a question about what they wanted to know about other teachers, either about their classroom activities or about their life in general. Although most of the questions had to do with classroom activities, there were a few that helped us find out how the teachers were doing, how they were feeling. This helped us to bond more as a group and to keep an eye out for some who we know are not having a good time. I feel that we are like a family.
Another important topic was the “school gardens”. This year, we have a person assigned to work the gardens in each of our communities. In this workshop, she gave us a detailed explanation of why they are important and what we can do to make them work in the classroom. As we are starting again with this program, it has worked in some communities and unfortunately not in others: because we do not have a decent space. However, we are already looking for new ways to see if we can still implement it.
Overall, I can say that the workshop was very successful. We hope that everything we presented and saw during the training will help the teachers to finish the year with very good results.
At the moment, we are preparing for the activities of September 15, which is the date of independence in our country; but in the next report we will have more information about this...
Thank you for your contribution and support, if it were not for you our children would not be able to excel, GOD BLESS YOU! Receive a warm hug from us.
