“Kodomo-no-machi Ishinomaki 2017PlayCity Ishinomaki 2017” was held in and around the shopping street of Ishinomaki, and the Earthquake disaster reconstruction apartment house in 7 and 8 of October, and over 700 children and parents joined.Although it was rainy on the first day, there were few participants, but on the second day it was sunny and more than 600 children participated.

In the Play City Ishinoki, children can work in public office, shop or company offer several kinds of services, and earn money which is used only in this city.
This year's feature was also held at the disaster reconstruction collective housing.
Regional companies and residents also cooperated a lot.

Through the process of “city” life, children can learn lots of things in the system of town management and community, and such experience supports them to draw their dreams.

Local students from junior-high schools, high schools and universities also joined and support children.

Children working as managers have took part in the meeting since 5 months ago, and prepared the contents until the day together.Children were working in about 100 kinds of jobs with deep joy.

Children are doing a lot of work such as cafe, ramen shop, bank and administration, police and radio stations, leather craftsmen and secondhand book shops.

The road was transformed into a park by laying lawn.

Children's flea market, dancing, making things and various kinds of play were done. Children's flea market soldaccessories and toys made at home. A child casino also started a business there. A casino of various contents was born.

The first day was a strong rainy and cold day, but since the children are "jobs I want to do", everyone managed to keep the shop. Children shop managers were touched by a few participants, "Thank you for coming in the rain! Let's make it a fun day", I was impressed.

This event has also reached its six year, local children and residents have begun to be involved actively.

Adults support children 's dreams, and community development through that process leads to the greatest earthquake disaster reconstruction

Training on child safety management
Training on child safety management

In Ishinomaki, groups for children were gathered, training on child safety management and play environment creation, and information sharing.

We  with theory and practice from the standpoint of risk and hazard, discovery and evaluation of danger, coping and confirmation, ideal and reality, etc.

This is an excerpt from the participant questionnaire.

· I've learned about risk hazards because I wanted to participate from before.

· I realized again that it is very important not only in my head but actually trying.

· By discussing with other organizations on various themes, more understanding deepened.

· From various angles, I talked about the importance of children's play environment in an easy-to-understand manner.

· I thought that it is important to be conscious of the way of thinking of danger evaluation analysis and share with friends.

· I felt that I could enjoy safely without taking away the enjoyment of play by devising it.

In addition, we held 3.11 earthquake experience stories and disaster prevention events for children and young people and their families.

Staff training
Staff training

We held a mobile playground in Sendai and Ishinomaki earthquake disaster reconstruction apartment building.

I went with a car loaded with playing tools and materials. There is a challenge for children's playground and exchange between old and new residents. Anytime, anyone needs a place to come for free. We create playgrounds and gathering places both indoors and outdoors. And we regularly hold events.

In addition, we held staff training of local NPO organization nijiiro crayon once a month. An individual consultation meeting was also held. In the training, we gave courses such as the value and necessity of play, mobile play know-how, points of environmental creation, adult involvement, risk management. In the workshop, we shared the idea and feelings of ourselves and the group, and the children also simulated the creation of a fun playground for themselves.

Ishinomaki 's winter is very cold. However, the children were playing well in the snow. Elderly people were drawing mosaic tiles indoors. Children also enter the room when taking a break and drink tea or eat sweets. And I will talk with the elderly. We are making relationships to watch children in the area. For children, play is a power to live. Children who are experiencing the stress of various earthquakes can diverge with play. People and people are connected. That is a very important time now.

Seminar to Protect the Lives of Children
Seminar to Protect the Lives of Children

Six years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2017. In Japan, that earthquake is forgotten by the world.

In order not to repeat that tragedy, it is important to tell the next generation.

So, we held "Disaster Seminar to Protect the Lives of Children" on March 11th & 18th "Do not forget 3.11." We held for school teachers, nurseries, playground staff and young people who would like to do it in the future.

We talked to the disaster area for more than 120 times for 6 years and talked about experiences and episodes that we have seen and heard. When we evacuated from the immediate aftermath, we talked about the state of the child in the life of the temporary housing, the behavior of the teacher and nursery teacher when she was in shelter life.

In addition, we introduced points for daily preparedness based on the experience story of 3.11, familiar danger & useful points, disaster prevention survival technique.

We held an original workshop. Assuming concrete damage situation, I did the ultimate judge game. I simulated the disorder situation at the time of the disaster and cultivated the ability to find the third answer.

Furthermore, we made a disaster prevention program that can be practiced at schools and communities. In order to continue disaster prevention activities for a long time, we developed a program combining play and local events. Sports festival and disaster prevention, excursion and disaster prevention, cherry-blossom viewing disaster prevention, New Year's Day and disaster prevention etc. were born.

In addition, we held staff training for Ishinomaki's child support organization.

This time, we took out funding and human resource management training for sustainable activities. It is important to multiply the local resources with ourselves and find the original solution.

In the town, the scars of the earthquake disappeared little by little, but the reconstruction of the heart has only just begun.

The local NPO organization is also in a difficult time.

That is why we need to support with various networks.

Thank you for your support in the 7th year too.
