We are making place to play as supporting the management of Koganehama Chibikko Hiroba (Koganehama Kid’s Playground) conducted by local residents and volunteer group. We have been making play tools by utilizing various things being there, for example, a wood getting salt damage, debris carried by the tsunami, rusted nails.
In this day, we repaired the earth retaining wall of the hedge which was donated in last year. Although it had been deteriorating over time, we made an appeal while saying that “Let’s repair it together because it was donated for this playground!”, and we repaired it together with to the children who come often and the adults living around the place. We could informed children that we should treat gifts carefully, we should value lives, and we have to keep our playground together.
Almost all things being in this playground hand-built by the children and adults living in the local area over time. When it got broken, we repaired it as finding the best way over time. Because it has been long process, we could share lots of works. The children and adults could have attachment for the playground.
And, to treat gifts carefully with respect is same as to treat the connections with the donors carefully. The plants growing in the hedge will bear fruits. We can share with more people the fruits which has ripened in this hedge. In this wise, we would like to enhance the environment of children through taking care of relations built in this playground.
