Helping Families Protect Their Livelihoods While Preventing Ebola

Dear donor,

The Ebola outbreak continues to affect daily life for thousands of families across Uganda, particularly those who depend on small businesses, farming, transport services, and cross-border trade for their livelihoods. As the country responds to 20 confirmed Ebola cases, your generous support is helping communities balance economic activity with essential disease prevention measures.

Community outreach teams continue working with traders, farmers, boda boda operators, market vendors, and small business owners to promote practical health measures that reduce transmission risks while allowing essential services to continue. Awareness sessions emphasize regular handwashing, maintaining clean work environments, recognizing symptoms early, and encouraging customers and workers to follow recommended hygiene practices.

Local leaders are supporting markets and trading centers by reinforcing public health messages and encouraging the continued use of handwashing stations. This collaborative approach allows communities to sustain economic activities while prioritizing public health and protecting vulnerable families from unnecessary exposure.

Many households have expressed appreciation for practical guidance that enables them to continue earning a living safely during the outbreak. By integrating Ebola prevention into everyday economic activities, communities are demonstrating resilience and adaptability in the face of ongoing challenges.

Your generosity is helping families safeguard both their health and their livelihoods. Every prevention activity implemented in markets, farms, transport hubs, and small businesses contributes to stronger local economies, healthier communities, and a more sustainable Ebola response that benefits thousands of people across Uganda and the Uganda–DRC border region.
