Farishta, speaking on a panel at her university
Farishta, speaking on a panel at her university

“It is my dream to become an inspiring woman for my country to encourage young women leaders towards a better future.”

Farishta, pictured here, is a 21-year-old woman who has benefitted from scholarships from Wedu in the past two years. Farishta, originally from Pakistan, is currently in her third year pursuing her bachelor's degree in International Development at the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh and is working towards her goal to collaborate with other women to build a global network using technological knowledge and information to offer a platform for support and communication. She is passionate about social change and wants to improve her community and make her country a better place, a goal that has risen from her educational focus and passion for leadership.

Farishta has been able to pursue her education through Wedu's financial support and through her own proactivity, in fact, just last year, she ran her own crowdfunding campaign successfully to raise money to cover additional costs for a study abroad program in Korea. Among her other achievements, Farishta has contributed to a street harassment campaign in Afghanistan, received a special mention at Chittagong University Model United Nations, and is currently learning how to speak Korean.

Farishta is one of the 362 young women Wedu currently supports. We call these young women Rising Stars and support them through mentorship and scholarships to complete higher education and become changemakers in their communities. Each Rising Star is passionate about creating positive social change in her community and at Wedu, we believe that investing in women's leadership not only empowers women, but also has a multiplier effect on improving the development of communities and countries as a whole.

We want to send our deepest gratitude to you for supporting this effect by donating to the Sujata Baskota Honor Scholarship project. Your contribution directly supports women like Farishta, by allowing them to focus on their studies and follow their dreams to create positive social change. Thanks to you we have been able to raise a total of $4,874 on and offline to contribute towards scholarships, an amount that can provide financial support to more Rising Stars this year than ever before. Thank you again so much for your donation and we look forward to sending more exciting Rising Star updates and achievements in coming months!

Thank you for helping our Rising Stars keep rising!
