Standing in the Gap: When Survivors Need it Most

We are rockin’ and rollin’ at Fair Haven! Building a brand-new program is a lot of fun and stress all in one! At this stage, we are continuing to build new connections and strengthen existing ones with our community partners. It is very easy to sit back and dream of where we want to be in 3 years, but to put pen to paper and make it happen takes a lot of connecting, a lot of networking, and a whole lot of post its for organization!

We are hard at work providing the services to our survivors as they come through our doors. We have so many dreams for what this program will one day become, but sometimes the dreams get put on hold to do the real work that we are here to do. It’s amazing to already see survivors seeking the services we have, and we are blessed to be able to support them as we build!

Aspen, our certified therapy dog, is getting ready to head to work as a canine advocate for a survivor in a court case already! Its donations like yours that really help push forward with unpaid costs of advocacy, such as travel and lodging! Please consider supporting today!

Hello everyone! My name is Becca Emerson, and I am the newly appointed Anti-Trafficking Coordinator for Fair Haven Rape Crisis Center! I wanted to reach out and thank you for the support you have shown our brand-new Anti-Trafficking Program.

We are so excited to have been blessed with the opportunity to grow our services to best serve our community. We know that Human Trafficking is highly prevalent in Northwest Indiana, and our nation. According to the Polaris Project, there were 22,326 identified trafficking victims in 2019 alone. If you look at the map provided by the Polaris Project, you will see our area in Northwest Indiana is a deep red, indicating high levels of Human Trafficking Situations reported to the Polaris Project Hotline.

It is our hope and prayer to grow to reach every survivor of Human Trafficking in our surrounding area. One thing I have learned in my work within the Victim Service Field is that we cannot do this work alone. This is where we are asking you to continue to partner with us, share our information, and help us help survivors. Every donation is another step closer to the success of our program, and we are so thankful for the support of our community.

I look forward to launching this program and taking you along side myself and Fair Haven as we begin to build this much needed program!
