In February 799 street dogs and 36 street cats were sterilized. In March 755 street dogs and 34 street cats have been sterilized. Your kind donation has helped in this great effort!. We would like to share pictures of our gorgeous cats that are in our shelter. There are more than 70 cats and more than 20 of them are disabled. These cats are all sterilized and neutered and we love them to bits. These are all rescued cats that have either been abandoned or cannot be put back on the street due to disability.
The summer is here and our shelter gets very warm- much too warm for our cats and kittens. We try to keep them comfortable by hanging wet gunny bags on the walls and keeping the fans on throught the day and night.
A few heart-warming happy tails:
Debra came to the shelter as a four-month old kitten, No one came forward to adopt her inspite of our feverish efforts. She lives in the shelter and is happy to be here. She loves to climb trees and run around. She is stays away from people and loves to be in the company of other cats.
Tiger is one of our older resident who has been with us for more than five years. She was abandoned at our shelter. She keeps to her herself and is loves to be around people.
These cats have a second chance because of your kind and valuable support.

Blue Cross of India team helping out during floods
Chennai braces for floods every November and December. The number of rescues quadrapule and the shelter strives hard to cope with the grave situation. This year, the flooding was unprecedented and unexpected. Our brave team of volunteers went out to rescue the less fortunate and hapless animals. In November, the shelter attended to 1411 rescue calls and the number increased to 1500 in December,
In spite of the relentless monsoon, there was no let up in the animal birth control programme. In October 2015, 833 dogs and 84 cats were treated and sterilized. In November, 451 dogs were treated and sterilized and the number of cats sterilized was 25
Our star survivor this month is Ginger boy who has been in the shelter for four years and has now been diagnosed with oral tumour. Unfortunately, the cancer is in advanced stage and he is on palliative care. He is coping well and loving all the attention he is getting. Lets hope and pray he recovers and regains his health. All this cannot happen without your generous donations. We are grateful for it and we hope to continue our animal welfare activities in the face of all odds.

Pictures speak a thousand words as the saying goes. This is true for cats in the shelter. Our cats are happy, healthy and safe. The cats are vaccinated and neutered. They spend their days happily roaming around in the facility, as we beleive that cats need freedom to express their natural behaviour. You, the donor, made it happen!.You can see for yourself in the attached pictures. These cats have nowhere to go and no place to call their home. Many of these cats have been rescued from hospitals which have a strict 'no animal 'policy. Sadly, cats are still being abandoned in our shelter and we try our level best to find them homes and give them a good life.
The progress in the past three months has been tremendous. We have neutered 100 cats and safely rehabilitated them. We have also rescued and treated more than 100 street cats. Our newest arrival is Salie who has injured her front and hind legs. She is presently undergoing treatment and doing well. Salie is malnourished and needs special attention. Salie would not have a chance at survival in the outside world. At Blue Cross we are able to rescue and treat these homeless animals. This has been made possible because of the donations that we receive from kind-hearted donors like you.
