Blue Cross Cat shelter
Seven years ago the Blue Cross of India launched the Spay and Neuter Cats and Dogs in Chennai project on GlobalGiving. The project has been a great success with your support. Thank you for your kind donations, without which we could not have helped and cared for so many street cats and dogs of Chennai. The animals have been spayed, vaccinated and released. The ones which cannot be released are cared for in the shelter.
The project has had a long life and we have enjoyed working on it. Our special thanks to GlobalGiving for making us a part of the GlobalGiving network and providing unhestitating and prompt support. Nearly half of our donations have been driven by GlobalGiving.
Sadly, we have to retire this project but the good work will be carried on by Blue Cross of India.
Happy New Year to you all.
We will leave you with some pictures of our adorable shelter cats.
Thank you and all the best,

Three new rescues and their amazing recovery
By SUDHERSENA ALALASUNDARAM | Project Leader
Pretty, Ginger and Brownie are three new rescues to the shelter. Pretty is female cat with a disability in her left hind leg. She is gentle and has a sweet temperament. It is such a pleasure to see her around the shelter.
Ginger has only one good ear, the other ear was injured in an accident. He also wobbles and cannot work steadily.
Brownie has disabled hind legs and cannot walk properly. She limps and is also sweet-natured like Pretty. Blue Cross provides shelter to these three cats among several others who would otherwise have no hope.
Your kind donation helps us help these unfortunate animals.
Besides these three rescues, numerous cats have found shelter with the Blue Cross of India. We are grateful to your kind donations.
Happy New Year to you all.

Annathai with Miss Blacky
In this report we would like to show our appreciation to the amazing work done by one of our staff, Annathai, who works relentlessly with the rescued cats. Annathai is one of the senior staff with the Blue Cross of India. She is always cheerful and never hesitates when it comes to the welfare of animals. One of our reasons for the success behind the spay and neuter project is the good work done by her. In this report , she is seen holding Miss Blacky who is all grown up and will be spayed soon.
Our spay and neuter initiative is in full swing with an average of 40-50 cats being spayed or neutered every month. Miss Blacky from our shelter along with three other cats will also be spayed shortly. This month all the shelter cats have been given spot-on for treating fleas. We would also like to give our donars a glimpse of some of our shelter cats.
We would like to thank your support for the success of this project and we are happy to inform you that the project is close to being fully funded. We would like to extend the program to cover another 3000 cats and dogs. We hope you will continue to support us to make the program a success once more.
