Dear Kind Supporter,
We are pleased to inform you that since the inception of the Solar Lamps Project in 2011, we have provided 1300 solar lamps to individual students, provided solar lighting for a girls' school hostel with 40 students and sets of twin solar lights to 8 government high school hostels and a coaching centre benefitting over 400 students. Since April 2012, we are inducting the students who are receiving the solar lamps into the Green Rhinos Program, a transformational youth nature leadership program.
It is amazing to see how a single solar lamp has transformed the lives of the young people who receive it. They are now able to study for much longer hours by a source of light that is steady and powerful. Their families who are already very poor do not need to incur any recurring cost for providing them this light. Carbon emissions are also being reduced as kerosene is not being used. This is benefitting the fragile ecosystem of the Sundarbans.
All this has been possible because we are working together as a team. These young people know that they have friends from all over the world and this is a source of inspiration and reassurance for them.
We look forward to your continued support.
With warm regards,
Diti
