With the generous support of our donors we will be able to give 150 individual solar lamps and 12 solar lights for common reading areas in schools in the Sundarbans in the first phase. This will benefit more than 450 students.
We are in the process of obtaining the names of poor meritorious students. The lists are being drawn up by the Headmaster and teachers of local government schools on Maipith Island in the Sundarbans. We are also in the process of procuring the solar lamps and lights from ONergy. We will be handing over these to the students in July 2011. We will let you know the exact date. If you are in Kolkata at that time we would be grateful if you could come along and hand over the lamps to the students. It will make such a difference to their lives!
We once again thank you for believing in this cause.
