In October, Hult Prize @ DLSU, the supervised student organization of De La Salle University’s (DLSU) Lasallian Social Enterprise for Economic Development (LSEED) conducted the “On Campus Boot Camp and Competitions” on October 18-19 and November 23, 2019. These activities were undertaken as part of the preparations for the Hult Prize Regionals, which is a global competition for social entrepreneurship and social innovations. Through the On Campus Competitions, three teams of DLSU were selected, who will then represent the country in Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh, and Bangkok Regionals.
Another section of NSTP-LSEED comprised of DLSU’s School of Economics (SOE) students completed their class on social entrepreneurship. Through the joint effort of LSEED students and KAYUMANGGI Paranaque (community organization), a social enterprise “Bighani” has been created and established.
In area of student competition, Airdisc, another SE being incubated under LSEED Fellowship program was selected and showcased in the Global Grad Show under the Dubai Design Week last November 12-16, 2019 in Dubai, UAE. The exhibition brought together highlights from the degreee shows of the most innovative technology and design programs in the world. In 2019 edition, feature works from 100 universities in +42 countries were showcased. Team IsdaBest on the other hand, was declared as Manila Regionals winner of both the SoGal Global Pitch Competition and 2019 Greenpreneurs Global Business Pitch Competition.
As part of its advocacy initiative, DLSU-LSEED actively participated in the series of meeting and committee hearing for the passing of the Poverty Reducation Through Social Entrepreneurship (PRESENT) Bill. The Bill pushes forward the agenda of developing and supporting social enterprises in the country. LSEED is a core member of the PRESENT Coalition.
The program lead of LSEED was also recently recognized by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU) as one of the top 5 finalists for “Engagement Leader of the Year” during the 2020 Asia-Pacific Triple E Awards, held in Kochi India, January 10, 2020.
