"Education guides me through life."

By Karen Sparacio | Project Leader

Winnie
Winnie

Meet Winnie.  Star student who has prevailed against the odds.

My name is Winnie.
I am 13 years old.
I grew up in the Acholi Quarters.
When I home I must help my mother prepare food, wash clothes and care for our large family of 12.
Through your support, Winnie has received scholastic sponsorship through Project Have Hope and is now attending one of the premier boarding schools in Kampala.  In boarding school, she can focus on her studies without the  distractions which come from living in an impoverished slum.
If I wasn't at school, I would not have the knowledge that could guide me through life in this world.
People are truly surprised to hear that I do not come from a well-to-do family, yet I attend one of the best schools throughout the country and I am acquiring the best knowledge one could ever attain.
My greatest hope for the future is to become a doctor and have great courage, just like Ben Carson of Gifted Hand. I truly hope that one day my dream comes true.

Children, like Winnie, were born into their circumstances of poverty, displacement, and futures as hard laborers.  We are changing that.  You can help.  Just $10 provides rquirements for a student.  $100 provides tuition for one term.  Consider giving the gift, the opportunity, of education to a child who would not otherwise have it.
