Dear Kind Hearts,
Greetings for the team Sankalp!
We believe and pray that all of you, our supporters and well-wishers out there are Safe & Healthy in these extraordinary and unprecedented pandemic times.
The last quarter activities of the academic year 2019-20 at Sankalp had to be cut short for safety health reasons and we had to abruptly close the session this year on 16th March instead of third week of April.
The progress report of the children during the year has been compiled. Summary of their progress is as follows:
Total Children whose progress was recorded 41
Socialization Batch 7
Total Children 48
The annual psychological assessment of the children for preparing the “Holistic Empowerment Plan” (HEP) was however, carried out on 15th March just before the closing of session. Our Special educators and therapists are preparing the HEP for the upcoming session based on the recommendations of the clinical psychologist about the fields of training. This will help us to start the child specific training as soon as the Centre restarts.
During the total lockdown declared by the Government from March 22 (which continues until May 31st as per the current orders) our special educators and therapists have been guiding parents over phone on different issues relevant to each child and also on how to keep their child occupied and what precautions to take during the lockdown.
Another philanthropic activity undertaken by us last month was to provide a ration kit to 32 families of our children who are most underprivileged and needed support due to stoppage of their meager source of income. The kit consisted of 10 kg. of Wheat, 5 kg. Rice, 3 kg. Sugar, 500 gms Tea, 2 kg. Lentil and 5 liters of cooking oil. This will be repeated again if needed.
Due to continuous increase in the new cases of Corona virus in Vadodara and as per the government guidelines Sankalp shall not open after summer break in June this year and the decision to open Sankalp shall be taken only after government lifts the lockdown for educational institutions. Meanwhile we are also in the process of preparing the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to be followed at Sankalp for ensuring safety and health of children as well as educators, therapists and other staff members when we reopens after the lockdown.
Until the next report a big THANK YOU for your support to our project. We will be updating YOU regularly & what impact YOUR donation is making in the lives of mentally/developmentally challenged children at Sankalp. We are also enclosing herewith few pictures for your perusal.
We pray for everyone’s safety and well-being. Please keep all the necessary precautions and stay safe and healthy.
Gratefully yours
