Microchips Save Lives
This handsome boy was adopted as an indoor-only cat—but somehow, he ended up outside. Unfortunately, indoor cats often lack the survival skills needed to navigate the dangers of the outdoors. From injuries and illness to cruelty and, tragically, death, the risks are very real.
In his case, he was found in a humane trap with a fractured paw. Despite the injury, he remained friendly and otherwise healthy. Animal control took him in and, thankfully, scanned him for a microchip. Although the adopter hadn’t updated their contact information, animal control went the extra mile. They traced the chip back to the original purchaser—which led them to us.
Because of that extra effort, we received a call and quickly arranged for one of our amazing volunteers to pick him up. At our vet, he was treated for his injury and placed in a loving foster home to recover. Just a few weeks later, this lucky boy found his forever home.
We’re sharing his story as a powerful reminder: microchipping your cat—and keeping your contact information current—can be the difference between lost and found.
Thank you for your support!
