Rescue cats from being euthanized at local shelter

Miko was abandoned in an apartment complex and was seen on Ring doorbell cameras crying for help. He was super friendly, a bit thin, covered in grease, and not neutered. He was checked for a microchip but no luck.

NBCR found a foster for Miko while he was getting vetted and ready for adoptions. He quickly warmed up to his new surroundings including making immediate friends with a traumatized foster kitten who had been rescued from a busy Walmart parking lot. Miko took this scared kitten under his wing and slowly but surely she came out of her shell.

The foster Mom said it was amazing to see the transformation the kitten experienced as a result of Miko’s presence. Fostering them both together really helped them feel safe and secure which led to both being quickly adopted.

Miko is doing great in his new home. He loves to eat his food and everyone else’s. He frequently displays his love and appreciation for being rescued through affection and his silly antics.

This is Ruffian, named after a winning racehorse from the 70’s! Ruffian was living at an apt complex and being fed by several people who all thought he was already neutered. It was easy to see at first glance that he indeed was NOT neutered, hence all of his horrible battle wounds. Obviously, the worst wounds are to his ear, which has a deep bite wound and a hematoma.

We quickly realized Ruffian is a sweet and gentle giant. Currently he only weighs about 11 pounds but with his frame we predict he will be much bigger in time. He is quiet and content in his own room, healing and getting much needed rest.  It will take some time for him to fully heal, but at least he is on his way to a better life.

A previous adopter saw Ruffy posted for adoption online and fell in love.  She promptly adopted him and welcomed him into her home. Naturally, Ruffy walked in like he had lived there all of his life and promptly claimed his perch with a view on the cat tree.
