Thirst For Life Campaign Team - Tanzania
Thirst For Life Campaign Team - Tanzania

Greetings from Tanzania

This quarter I want to give you a brief update on the progress of our Biogas Project.

The project got a "visibility boost" through our other campaign on establishing water stations, called Thirst for Life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHL9OCyHODw.

I hope you will enjoy watching our video and see how we can amplify our voice about our Biogas Project along with the Thirst for Life Campaign (from Alexandria in Egypt to Cape Town in South Africa).

Our desperate need now is to get our word out - so we can invite many supporters for our campaign. We don't have a very competent IT Team or Social Media Experts to help us amplify our word. I was just looking to our Thirst for Life video today (16th Feb 2021) and found out there are only 20 views! How on earth can I fundraise $1,000 under such circumstances!/ THANKS to GlobalGiving (through you) for playing its part to help me and my team.

If you have a specific advice on how we can efficiently implement our Thirst for Life campaign please directly write to me: hilonga@gmail.com. The campaign will touch lives of about 5,000,000 people across Africa - I am sure you will be proud that you also contributed to making this impact in your life time.

GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY!

Askwar Hilonga - Project Director

Biogas Exhibition Tanzania - Aug 2020
Biogas Exhibition Tanzania - Aug 2020

This quarter we are so humbled to just say "THANKS for standing with us "in season and out of season"".

Besides COVID-19 challenge, we are so grateful that most of our supporters continued to generously support us - though they themselves might have been challenged by COVID-19. That's a great sacrificial spirit and we will always respect and cherish your generosity.

The most important activity we accomplished this quarter is successful participation in the exhibition event that happens every year in August. As you can see in the photo, we displayed all our products including the Biogas and organic fertilizer - as demonstrated in the attached photo. Other products include Nanofilter for households and for schools / institutions, Solar Lanterns, and the Inspire and Empower Centre.

We had more than 1,000 visiting our booth and we recorded their names for future follow-ups.

Last but not least: please kindly join our 10 years celebration on 1 - 5 Dec 2020. We will show-case our success stories and the impact to our community. Also we will release our great plan to scale-up to 20 different African countries in 2021. It looks like an "impossible dream" - that is why you need to witness by yourself.

Please kindly click this link and join us for the GREAT CELEBRATION on 3rd Dec 2020: http://evite.me/4A6mY5mjd9

We will come back with further details about this GREAT CELEBRATION for our 10 Years Mission & Vision. For now please keep the date: 3rd Dec 2020 - and share the link with others.

THANKS again for being very kind to us, even amidst COVID-19.

Organic Fertilizer Processing Unit in Tanzania
Organic Fertilizer Processing Unit in Tanzania

Our Biogas Project, just like many other businesses around the world, was also hit by COVID-19. Nevertheless, we are so grateful to many partners who stepped in and intervened in this time of need. Among many others is the United States Africa Development Foundation (USADF) which provided $10,000 to assist our biogas customers to build organic fertilizer units. Moreover, we are grateful to the government of Tanzania for providing Tsh. 131,000,000 ($56,956) for skills development through (SDF) through Tanzania Education Authority (TEA). The main objective is to advance skills for harnessing organic fertilizer to boost crop production and generate income for biogas customers in rural areas and create job opportunity for the youth / technicians. With this grant we are determined to strengthen our biogas customers through a project with the following objectives:

1. To empower 100 technicians with skills of building organic fertilizer processing units

2. To train and support the current 300 biogas customers to generate income from organic fertilizer

3. To increase the income of the biogas customers by Tsh.100,000 per month

You are kindly WELCOME to partner with us, as it is convenient to you.

Along with the Organic Fertilizer – which is environmentally friendly - the promotion of cow-dung based green energy will reduce deforestation, carbon dioxide emission to mitigate climate change and make the rural communities resilient / adapt to climate change, as evidenced here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz4s443Jzr4.

Biogas CEO, Ruth- Receives Award for SDGs
Biogas CEO, Ruth- Receives Award for SDGs

This quarter we are so excited to report our 17th award. This time it was through our CEO, Mrs Ruth Elineema Lukwaro, who went to Ghana and awarded by the President of Ghana for our significant contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The award is named: Africa Innovates for SDGs. The award is based on our contribution to solving our community challenges along with the globally agreed goals (SDGs). But our success came through your generous support. We are so grateful to you and all our partners who gave us a beautiful beginning of this interesting journey of Biogas Initiative and we see a brighter future. Please kindly let us know if you would like to be involved in a certain way – eg. if you want to support us to enter another country or just continue to scale-up within Tanzania. You may even just support a family get Biogas at a price of USD 750 – everything included. You may also support a school, prison, or any other institution with many people in one place, get a biogas system – the price starts at USD 5000 for about 400 people. We will send you the name of the household or an institution you supported, location / GPS, photos, etc. Then you can drop-by / visit whenever you come to Africa or request your friends to visit us whenever they come to Africa.

We are always grateful for your RELENTLESS SUPPORT.

HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!

Our team- involved in promoting Biogas in Tanzania
Our team- involved in promoting Biogas in Tanzania

This quarter we have breaking news to share with our partners at GlobalGiving platform. We have been working for our biogas project for long long time but significantly realized the challenge our beneficiaries are facing on failure to create income generating source through biogas. Indeed, biogas was more on saving money that would have been used to purchase firewood for cooking; of course this is a big plus to environment and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. But the beneficiaries did not have a direct income from biogas – NOTHING TO SELL!

This situation will change soon after our successful grant application on “organic fertilizer” from the biogas systems – to be sponsored by the Government of Tanzania through Skills Development Fund (SDF). We are shortlisted for this grant and hopefully by the end of this month (Sept 2019) we will be able to start this project.

We are so grateful to our supporters through GlobalGiving platform and others like United States African Development Foundation (USADF). It is through your previous support that we are now able to present “evidence based success stories” that is creating further opportunity to IMPACT more peoples’ lives. Through organic fertilizer product our beneficiaries will be able to generate income of up to Tsh.100,000 (about USD 45) per month by selling the organic fertilizer, let alone the possibility of greatly increasing the crop harvests – since they will be applying this organic fertilizer into their farms.
