This quarter we did an interesting activity of retrofitting the old biogas system. The work was conducted under the supervision of Korean researchers who were interested to learn about the optimum operation conditions for the biogas system. The retrofitting work is already completed and the biogas production was increased from 0.5 cubic meters per day to 2 cubic meters per day for the 9 cubic meter biodigester. That is about 200% increase in production of biogas! This is an eye opener to most of us! It would be a breakthrough for more than 200 beneficiary households who have biodigesters (most of them might need this retrofitting – because some of them are already more than 10 years old). With this proper maintenance, a biodigester can work for about 50 years.
