This project will enable 66 households in rural Tanzania who built biogas systems by using a loan from TAHUDE Foundation. These clients are enjoying the service - they no longer depend on trees/firewood for cooking. Women and girls avoid diseases caused by smoke, save time for collecting firewood, and there are global benefit for climate change mitigation. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and other challenges, these clients are not able to pay their debt. Your support will be a breakthrough.
TAHUDE Foundation did great job before COVID-19 hit its clients. The organization was giving loans for the construction of biogas systems. Then the clients repay; and the repaid funds are used to build the new biogas systems - we called it REVOLVING FUND. Now, since some clients are hard hit by COVID-19 and other challenges, TAHUDE is at the risk of loosing its revolving fund. This may destabilize the organization and jeopardize the ability to provide service to new clients who need the service.
With your support the 66 highly affected clients will be able to repay their loans. This will make TAHUDE stand on its fit again. The funds will enable TAHUDE to give loans to the new batch of 66 clients. This revolving fund will be carefully guarded to enable the organization to reach more and more people. Please kindly note that biogas systems enable the rural communities to use renewable energy. They don't need to depend on firewood for cooking. Women and girls particularly benefit a lot.
The 66 biogas loans repaid will generate revolving fund for sustainability. This will continue to protect trees/firewood that would have been cut per year. Women and girls health will improve due to less exposure to smoke when cooking. They will also have more time for other important economic activities (instead of collecting firewood for cooking). The trees that will not be cut will help improve the environment; reduce climate change. The revolving fund will replicate to new biogas loans
