Summary

Let's play our part in reducing the harmful gas emissions from our cars and flights by supporting a biogas system for a family in Tanzania. Here is how you will know your carbon emissions: https://blocicarbon.com/flight-calculator/. For example, if you fly from New York to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania your carbondioxide emission will be 1,441 kgCO2e. Each biogas costs $1,000 and will reduce the emissions by 16,000 kgCO2e per year and works for 50 years. We'll provide further information as needed

Challenge

Majority of Tanzanians still use biomass as the main energy source for cooking. Biomass emits a lot of greenhouse gases and is used by about 92% people in rural areas. Investments could be made to replace biomass with renewable sources like biogas from animal dung to cope with climate change. On the other hand, people from the developed world also emit a lot of green house gases (GHG) from various economic activities, including car drives and flights. Climate change is real!

Solution

Intelligent people like you and me cannot just let things go like this. Let's take part by showing personal accountability. For example, whenever we pollute environment/air with our cars/flight we may reduce the effect by supporting a biogas system that can mitigate the challenge. Families that use biogas system don't depend on firewood for cooking; thus, trees will not be cut because there is another fuel source for cooking. So, trees will continue to live and takeout carbondioxide from the air

Long-Term Impact

A biogas system can work for 50 years. So imagine what you can achieve with your support, albeit small. Each year you will continue to protect trees that would have been cut as firewood for cooking. Women and girls' health will improve due to less exposure to smoke when cooking. They will also have more time for other important economic activities (instead of collecting firewood for cooking). Each biogas system will reduce the release of 16,000 kg of carbondioxide and mitigate the climate change
