Sounds for Life maintains the priority of fostering the development of musical skills in children in Guatemala.
Guatemala is a country full of contrasts, of great opportunities, but also of many limitations for those born in conditions of poverty, family disintegration, violence, or gangs. For all this, we constantly work to make things a little easier for children who live in situations of risk, and we do it through music.
We continue to deliver musical instruments to children who have an interest in music, because we know all the benefits it will bring in their lives and personal development. We recently gave an electroacoustic guitar to an exceptionally talented boy who manages to bring joy into his life with a guitar in his hands. He lives in a reality where his father fights cancer, so his mother and his three brothers, try to live each day to the fullest and always fighting to fulfill their goals and achieve their dreams, knowing that at any moment their life can change radically.
When you collaborate with Sounds for Life, you are investing resources in children like our little fighter and music lover. In Guatemala there are thousands and thousands of cases like this, and we want to help to make their lives easier and, at the same time, provide them with the development of skills that contribute to having a better future.
We appreciate all your help and hope to continue counting on it to reach all these children who need it so much.
Renewal
The deep roots usually endure difficult times and the plant survives. A RENEWAL is the fruit of these strong roots.
Sounds for Life has survived the harsh situation we live with the pandemic, especially in a country where education and culture are not valued as they should be.
Despite adverse circumstances, Sounds for Life continued to work remotely or with private visits. Then we started working again with children and young people in person and so, little by little we restarted the work and now we are returning.
All children and young people have had a great need to return to their musical practice together with their peers. Many of them were affected in their emotional stability by the fact of remaining isolated and that is why it was extremely important to resume work together.
In Jocotenango, Sacatepéquez, we have been able to start this work for the joy of children and young musicians and we have been able to verify how all of them have returned to feel and live the joy of music in their lives, this joy that is better lived when they share it with their friends from La Orquesta.
There are thousands of children and young people who are still waiting for this return and the opportunity to play their musical instruments again with their friends. You can help make this happen.
When you collaborate with Sonidos Para La Vida, you are helping Guatemalan children and young people to have this opportunity to have music in their lives and all that this entails.
Today it is even more necessary to help young people to have things in their lives that make them get away from negative ideas, from depression, from the temptations of gangs, from isolation. That's why we need your help.
With his contribution he is helping hundreds of children and young people to get away from all the consequences that the pandemic has left, all these social consequences that we are now experiencing.
Today we need even more of your help!!!
Since the pandemic began, we have had so many challenges in continuing our work; however, we have been adapting to the needs that children and young people are presenting to continue being close to music.
The number of people we now reach has become smaller, this mainly because many members of the Association do not have access to the technology necessary to be able to have their classes or the necessary resources to continue learning. This is the saddest part we have faced so far.
Despite everything, we continue to use technology to reach those who do have this possibility, and this, until the disease is controlled in our country.
We have developed a series of videos about our national instrument, "La Marimba", with the aim of maintaining the interest and approach to music in all our students. Professor Francisco Linares is the one who has developed this series and has had a great scope and this material will be especially useful even when everything returns to normal, because it contains valuable didactic information about the instrument and can even become "classes" of support to any Professor who needs it.
To continue developing these materials, and to be able to get access to it even those who do not yet have the necessary technology, it is important to continue to count on their help. Remember that it is through your help that we can reach hundreds of Guatemalan children and young people, who today more than ever, need to have positive activities in their lives to continue growing and training as good people.
So, we can only thank you for your valuable help and reaffirm our commitment to continue working, with all the means at our disposal, so that music continues to be part of the development of the children and youth of Guatemala.
Until next time.
Dear friends, on this occasion we only want to offer a sincere apology to all of you for not transmitting recently achieved achievements.
We have a reason that has put us in this situation... Covid-19 disease has caught up with us.
We are living, in our families, contagions of this disease that comes to complicate all the work, however, we are full of faith and confidence that all this will happen soon and again we will be able to bring to you good news, especially how music helps thousands of Guatemalan children and young people cope with this disease and defeat it , filling us with good cheer and joy.
Remember that your help has been essential so that Sounds for Life can reach all these children and young people in Guatemala.
With your help we continue to reach 6 public schools in our country, but it still takes a lot to do, especially now that we have to provide different tools to reach all of them.
Thank you for all your help and we look forward to your understanding.
