New Sapling Nursery Construction Completed

By Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed the construction of our new sapling nursery for the 50,000 Trees Project. This is an exciting milestone that brings us closer to restoring more degraded land and supporting the surrounding communities.

1. Why We Expanded the Nursery

Our previous nursery structure was too small to accommodate the large number of saplings needed for this project. To ensure each seedling grows strong and healthy, we built a larger and more efficient nursery capable of supporting the full scale of our work.

2. What the New Nursery Provides

The newly completed nursery offers:

  • Increased capacity to raise all 50,000 saplings

  • Better shade protection from harsh sunlight

  • Improved ventilation and drainage for healthy seedling growth

  • Strong wooden framing to withstand seasonal weather

3. Construction Highlights

During the construction process, our team:

  • Installed all wooden structural posts and beams

  • Completed the roof supports and shade netting

  • Cleared and prepared the ground

  • Set up the space to receive planting bags

The nursery is now fully built and ready for use.

4. Next Steps

With the construction completed, our upcoming activities include:

  • Arranging planting bags in the nursery

  • Beginning seed sowing

  • Installing watering lines

  • Setting up protective fencing around the site

5. Why This Matters

The new nursery is essential to the success of the 50,000 Trees Project. With this improved facility:

  • Saplings will grow in a safer, controlled environment

  • Seedling loss will be significantly reduced

  • We will produce stronger, healthier trees for planting across the community

6. Appreciation

Your generosity made this achievement possible. Every contribution helps us restore ecosystems, protect soil, and build a greener future for Rwanda.

Thank you for your continued support.
