Following the successful planting of 40,000 trees, RWAYDAVO is launching the next phase to plant and maintain 50,000 trees in Northern Rwanda-Rulindo district across Cyinzuzi, Burega, Butangamuntdu, Kiyanza, Ntarabana and Remera. This project supports environmental restoration and provides economic benefits to local communities. Your donation will help fund the planting, care, and long-term maintenance of these trees, promoting sustainability and community empowerment.
Rwanda faces ongoing deforestation driven by the need for food, medicine, charcoal, and timber. This tree loss, especially in a rainy and mountainous country, has led to environmental issues such as soil degradation, erosion, landslides, and biodiversity loss.
This project will engage young children and community members in six rural villages to plant climate-appropriate tree species. Local leaders and school heads will be educated on the importance of reforestation. By equipping school children with environmental knowledge and practical skills, the initiative empowers them to become environmental stewards. Fruit-bearing trees will also contribute to household incomes.
Through this project, communities will gain a lasting understanding of the value of trees and the importance of protecting the environment. Children will grow up with a sense of responsibility toward nature and pass on this knowledge. Success in these six sectors will allow us to expand tree planting efforts to additional areas, amplifying the environmental and economic benefits.
