The miracle

By Jolly Geevarghese | Sr. Program Manager

Report - December 2016

Asharan has cared for 50 children in the year 2016 with all your help. Among them, 8 children were adopted into loving families and  15 children were restored to their biological families.

Good news!

Now we have all the money needed, to purchase a new van for the children!!! We will be able to purchase it as soon as the entire amount hits the bank.

A big thank you to all our friends namely Ajay & Sonali, Anne & Elle Hendricks, Amit Mulani, 'Guadalupe Mercado', Jessica, & Sharon Hendricks, for contributing towards the cost of the Van.

I am not forgetting all the others who have contributed this quarter towards different needs like speech & OT, medical,   teachers’ salary, food, milk & round the clock care. Without you, it would have been impossible to run the orphanage.  Thank you. May your reward be from God.

The miracle!

Three years old Shivani was found wandering. When the police brought her to Asharan, she could not tell anything about her family. At Asharan, she enjoyed the company of other children especially of child Sahil who is about her age. She also enjoyed the attention in the school, the nursery rhymes, colors, and stories. A few weeks passed and the police brought two more boys to Asharan, 6 years old Sunny and  7 years old Vinay. We were surprised when both the boys ran to Shivani, hugged her and said ‘, “sister, were you here all the time? We were searching for you everywhere”. It is a miracle that these three siblings came together, even though they were picked up from different places at different times. Their parents are no more. They were under the care of their elder sister who presently is in the police custody accused of some crime. The boys were surviving by picking rags and selling it. They were discouraged as they thought they had lost their small sister Shivani and that they had no place of shelter. They were on the verge of ending their lives due to sadness when the police met them.

This is what Vinay said after a couple of days at Asharan. “I will not go away from this place until I grow big and finish my studies”. Now, Vinay is not only a big brother to Sunny and Shivani but also has become the big bro for Sahil, Nisha, and all the little children at Asharan.
