Recently, three year old Neha lost her father. She was staying with her mother Arti who is a victim of burn injuries due to cooking gas cylinder blast. Arti needed two months hospitalization due to an infection on her burns. Though Neha was kept under the care of a relative, she wandered away searching for her mother but fortunately ended up in Asharan. Neha had no clue about her mother and her relatives. Today she is reunited to her mother with the help of police, Child Welfare Committee and ‘Track the missing portal’.

Two years old Sahil is hospitalized due to a brain infection. His health conditions are critical. He was born prematurely and was abandoned at birth. He had clubfoot and developmental delay. A wonderful family with a beautiful heart has adopted him knowing his condition. They sit at his bed side waiting for him to be discharged from the hospital to take him to their home in US.

Asharan has cared for 22 orphaned children in this quarter with all your help. Among them, 5 children were adopted into loving families and 2 children were restored to their biological families. We are grateful to you for being there with these little ones who needed help in times of illness, loneliness, pain & despair.

You have clothed them, fed them, given them round the clock care & education; you have helped them to celebrate their birthdays though their parents are not around them; You have helped them to have a secure shelter with proper lighting, water and fresh air. You have helped the sick children with medical support; you have helped the special need children with required therapies. You have helped the children with a new van for them to go to hospital, school, court and for fun outings. You have brought comfort to these little ones in the darkest days of their life.

Ran away from home to survive!

Every child that come to Asharan has a story to tell. 7 years old Ruby (Name changed) can’t believe that what is happening to her now, is real. She is getting to realize that it is Ok for her to play like children, to study or to take an afternoon nap. She is relieved to know that the responsibility of looking after her younger siblings are not on her shoulder anymore, that she doesn’t have to clean the house, wash utensils and clothes and that she is not beaten up or burned with heated spoons if she make  mistakes. Her wounds are healed leaving skin deep scars on her body. She limbs while walking. Her heart and mind still need much healing. She had ran away from the overwhelming situation of her home and never wants to go back there. She feels secure when she sleeps at night in the company of other children at Asharan.  She knows that the loving staff at Asharan watches over her night and day. She is happy when she is able to recognize colors and count blocks. She dreams of school now.
