Workshop for internally displaced persons
By Mbeng Simon Nsah | The Director
During this period Better Family Foundation (BFF) organized a one day workshop for internally displaced persons in the North West Region of Cameroon. These people are displaced due to the deepening socio-politcal crisis that has plagued the rural areas of the region. Many of the affected population has moved to the Bamenda Urban centre. Many of these displaced persons are volunerable to Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) due to misery resulting from poverty and street life. Many of this people live a begging life style which exposes them to vulnerability to sex and sexual assaults.
Considering this situation, Better family Foundation organized a one day workshop to train this people on HIV prevention methods and building of better life skills in order to ensure their safety and good health. This workshop took place in the Mile 5 neighbourhood in Nkwen Bamenda and will likely move to other places as far as our resources permit.
The over thirty participants who attended the workshop were finally dispatched to the community as community sensitizers in order to mitigate the prevalence of STIs and gender based violence. Better Family Foundation Management contrinues to thank all donors who are contributing in whatever way to sustain this program.

HIV/AIDS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
By MBENG SIMON | THE DIRECTOR
HIV/AIDS is not a new phenomenon in Fundong and its environes..However, many people in this area are at risk of being affected by it due to high rate of rape as a result of the socio-politicsl crisis. Realizing this situation, Better Family Foundation during this last period visited three prominent social meetings and educated their members on how to guard themselves against rape and spreading of HIV.
During such campaign meetings which held only on Sundays, our staff were assigned to go to the meetings, asked for permision and sensitize the people on the dangers of HIV and how they can avoid being exposed to it during such war time. In all the social meetings attended, the members were very appreciative of BFF's efforts.
We are very thankful to all our donors who have been contributing in making this program a success.
