Fall is coming...

Chloe
It is hard to believe that fall is coming. The summer quickly went by, although the number of dogs in need continued to keep us busy. Haley's babies (from our last report) are almost all adopted. Haley continues to be with us but we promise her that her forever home will be found. Our beautiful Chloe returned to us and is now in the capable hands of our behaviorist who is working with her to redirect her energy to something positive. We continue to have several long termers in private boarding so your continued support is essential for us to continue our work. We continue to be so grateful to all of you for supporting us. Thank you.

Pregnant dog season has started - June 2015

Haley and her babies
The summer season came quickly upon us! It seems like just yesterday we were fighting the blizzard to drive to Pennsylvania to pick up our last pregnant dog. Now we have welcomed Haley and her babies into our fold. Both moms were saved from a high kill shelter where they were in eminent danger. People frequently ask why we take on the daunting project of a mom and babies and the answer is simple, these dogs are the most in need. Sadly shelters frequently euthanize pregnant dogs and moms and newborn babies as it helps in controlling the population and moms and young babies simply do not survive in a shelter environment.
On a happy and positive note – Haley and her babies are now safe and in a loving foster home. They are all thriving, even the runt who is half the size of his siblings at almost 4 weeks. We have scheduled their first vet appointment and look forward to our vet meeting this new family.
We would like to thank all of you as we could not continue to do the work we do without your support. We hope that you will continue to support us and all of the wonderful dogs we continue to save. Thank you.

Puppies, puppies, and more puppies!

Izzy's x-ray
Spring has definitely arrived! Several weeks ago we were contacted about a pregnant dog in need. One of our volunteers quickly drove to Pennyslvania to pick up this poor mom, in the middle of a blizzard none the less! Izzy arrived on Sunday and Monday morning was already in labor! The last of the 9 puppies arrived at 8 PM after 15 hours of labor! We were blessed with 6 boys and 3 girls and thankfully at 4 weeks of age all 9 babies are thriving.
Thanks to your continued support, we are able to save dogs like Izzy and insure that her babies will be delivered in a warm and safe home versus a shelter where few if any would survive. We hope that you will continue to support us and our efforts to save more moms and babies.
