Help Orphan Puppies - Special Needs Dogs in the US

It is hard to believe that Spring is upon us.  Just 2 weeks ago we drove to Pennsylvania to meet a wonderful woman who had driven almost 40 dogs from a high kill shelter in Texas.  We took in 14 (quite a few more than originally planned but how can you say no!) puppies, including a 3 week old bottle baby, Maple, and 6 puppies that were rejected by their mother.  

All of these puppies needed vetting, so you can imagine our rising vet costs!  But at the end of the day we had to help. 

We continue to have multiple special needs cases, including Daisy, a beautiful yellow lab mix with burns on her back, and Dani, our chocolate lab with the multiple jaw fractures and head injury.  We are happy to report that our beautiful Mae (featured in our last report) received heartworm treatment, had over 10 masses removed, and was spayed.  Her total vet bill was over $3000 but we tell her every day that she was worth every penny!   

We also continue to work with multple dogs with behavioral issues.  Although we are unsure of the possibility of adoption for a couple of these dogs, we refuse to give up on them and we are dedicated to providing them the love, support and training they deserve.  

Sadly our work is never done but we continue to hope that one day there will be no more dogs in need.  Until then, we are so grateful for your continued support.  Without your continued support, we would not be able to rescue wonderful and deserving dogs like Daisy, Dani, Maple and Mae.  Thank you for supporting us.

In the fall we were contacted about a mom and babies that no one wanted to commit to as mom had so many medical needs.  Mae was not only an older dog but was also heartworm positive with an old fractured leg and multiple growths.  Oh and 6 newborn babies!  We simply could not say no to this family.

We are happy to report that all 6 of her babies survived and are now in loving homes.  Mae received an extensive workup and it was determined that she not only had an old fracture in her front right leg, but also multiple bullet fragments.  Mae has begun the first of 3 rounds for heartworm treatment.  Once this is completed, we will have her spayed and have the multiple growths removed.  

Without your continued support, we would not be able to help dogs like Mae.  Her medical bills alone will be over $3000.  Many ask why we take on these cases when these funds could be used to save multiple dogs.  One look into Mae's soulful eyes and you would not have to ask.  And we always refer to our special sign "Saving one dog will not change the world but surely for that one dog the world will change forever".  For Mae, who probably had never known a loving home or kindness until she came to us, her world has changed forever.
