The 6 Ambassadors Present at the Meeting
The 6 Ambassadors Present at the Meeting
They are all undergraduates of Obafemi-Awolowo UniversityIfe, Nigeria. While in Secondary/High School, they all sat for Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC) in different years for the purpose of winning ISERH SSCE/UTME Scholarship and to as well become ISERH Ambassadors in order to get qualified for various learning opportunities. They won the scholarship and Iserh Nigeria sponsored their Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) and/or Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinatio (UTME) - a university/college entrance examination. They are today known as our valued ISERH Ambassadors.

We now have 17 of them as undergraduates of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) while 1 is now a graduate of the same institution - Akindele Peter Piroll. They all came together yesterday to strengthen their relationship, academic, and plan on ways to also touch many more lives, having identified that they represent different professions of needs in the country: Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Rehabilitation, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Agricultural Extension, Computer Science, Management & Accounting, Survey and Geo Informatics, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Survey, Civil Engineering, etc.

Due to their heterogeneous lectures times, only 6 of them could be present for the meeting while the rest sent in their excuses. They are all belong to a Whatsapp Group created for the same purpose.

Present were (L-R): Abiodun Kudirat - Microbiology Dpt, Olufemi Sayo Samuel - Management & Accounting Dpt, Olufemi Timilehin Daniel - Medical Rehabilitation Dpt, Oluyemi Tosin - Mechanical Engineering Dpt, Harbbyhodun Oluwadare - Civil Engineering Dpt, Okoli Damilola - Industrial Chemistry.

At the Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship and Health, nothing gives us more joy than seeing the beneficiaries of our programs excelling academically and in other facet of life. Nothing magnifies our impacts than seeing our Ambassadors planning of touching more lives because theirs have been and it is still being touched.

'Ethical Leadership' is part of our vision and we can't be less happy and appreciative of our sponsors and donors to our programs for making this a reality via ISERH Ambassadors OAU Chapter's effort. For our ambassadors in other schools, we await the great news from your end.

You are the FUTURE that is becoming TODAY!

50 ERIN-IJESA PUPILS RECEIVED TEXTBOOKS, NOTEBOOKS & PENS

The team of Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship and Health (ISERH) was on a Teens-Back-to-School-Project trip to Erin Ijesa Community Middle and High School, Erin-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria on Thursday, 4th October, 2018, to open education access to its pupils and alleviate their parents’ hardship of getting them school’s supplies. Our visit was a huge surprise to the pupils of the school as it was evident through their enthusiastic jumps and uncontrollable beam of smiles. The organization provided 50 pupils of the school with exercise books, textbooks, and pens to aid their learning.

Erin-Ijesa is predominantly agrarian community and has just a government-owned middle and high school housed in a premise. It’s easier for the kids and teens of the community to go to farms than go to school, but because of the Ijesa people’s love for education, the schools can conveniently boast of 200 middle and high school pupils.

In line with our School Supports Project, the team presented the school with 3 cartons of chalks. This is to aid their teaching as it has been observed that many times are teachers willing to take their classes but lack or insufficient provision of chalks serves as a real constraint. Our team also granted the school’s management a listening hear to know where the shoe pinches them and what we can do to support them.

Reacting to the visit of the organization, Mr. Adeyekun Adeleke Afeez- the Principal of the school eulogized the team’s efforts in promoting access to learning and taking kids/teens back to school, as he pleads for more supports from other organizations to complement ISERH's effort in ensuring students have unrestricted access to basic learning materials. He was so impressed that his pupils could be remembered and counted worthy to benefit from the project.

Mr. Samuel - the Registrar of the school was granted interview by the visiting team as the team continues on the mission of supporting the needy but brilliant students in accessing education.

ISERH has vouched not to relent in her effort towards supporting the hapless students of the state, as her research indicates that inaccessibility to basic learning facilities is a cankerworm militating against the progress of the students, and its evidence in bastardizing the sector in no small measure. We appreciate those who donated towards this project, directly or through GlobalGiving

ISERH GIVES 130 STUDENTS OF AJIMOKO MIDDLE SCHOOL, ILESA EXERCISE BOOKS, TEXT BOOKS, PENS AND PENCILS

The exercise that targeted just 50 students of the school experienced a transformation towards impacting 130 students. It was a beautiful and memorable Wednesday, 3rd October 2018, for the students and the staff of Ajimoko Middle School, Ilesa, Ilesa West Local Government, Osun State, Nigeria, as a team of Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship and Health (ISERH) led by Aderanti – Director of Programs, arrived the school to distribute the learning materials to the needy students.

The team had a plan of giving the learning materials to just 50 students but the Principal of the school - Mrs. Adeyoju pleaded for its evenly distribution to 130 students, as almost all their students are lacking the basic learning materials. The students were given exercise books, textbooks, pens and pencils.

Having known that schools in the state often face challenges of inadequate teaching materials, ISERH presented 3 cartons of chalks to the school. In many occasions are students left untaught or ended classes earlier consequent upon shortage or lack of chalks to write on the board.

In his address to the students, ISERH Director of Programs emphasized on the needs for them to keep their head high above any challenge that poses threat to their education. He assured them of a better future as there’s always a reward for hard work. He concluded by sharing the sorry story of the founder of the organisation, Abayomi that has now metamorphosed into success story. He concluded that Abdulahi’s story should be an enough inspiration/ motivation for any young poor/vulnerable and hapless student to learn and work hard to attain greatness, no matter the difficulties s/he and his/her parents are facing.

The principal of the school - Mrs. Adeyoju appreciated the organisation for picking the school and her students as beneficiaries of this project. She added that the distribution of the materials to the students was timely as the schools just resumed from their terminal break in the state. She reiterated the staff’s commitment to hard work as well as their readiness to support in actualizing the mission of the organization’s project. She appreciated all the donors of the project, GlobalGiving and ISERH management.

Isiaq - ABC Project Director, and Ossenat -Director of Finance and Operation, made up the team that took the good news to the students.

At Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship and Health (ISERH), we are committed to reducing the number of out-of-school youth, promote open access to learning, and support schools with teaching aids and learning materials. We appreciate those who donated towards this project, directly or through GlobalGiving.

In strengthening the relationship among ISERH Ambassadors of the same and different cohorts and as well as the Prospective Associate Ambassadors, Initiative for Sound Education Relationship & Health (ISERH) has launched Ambassadors Portal .  This portal provides a wide range of opportunities for the Ambassadors and the prospective Associate Ambassadors. The Ambassadors/Prospective Associate Ambassadors can see who among them is online and engage them in chats - whether they are online or offline.

The ISERH Ambassadors are the teenagers who have benefited ISERH sponsorship of their High/Senior School Certifficate Examinations (SSCE) and/or University Entrance Examinations (UTME). ISERH Associate Ambassadors are the graduates of ISERH Undergraduate Studies - through which Nigerian Undergraduates are trained on depression management, leadership development, social/corporate, relationship management, and entrepreneurial skills for the purpose of combating high prevalence of suicides among Nigerian undergraduates.

Another amazing feature of the portal is the Library Services icon. Under this icon are consistently updated downloadable books/articles; motivational/academic videos and audios. They have direct access to apply for latest global and national scholarships, fellowships, internships and jobs under Opportunities Icon on the portal.

This platform also affords them the opportunity of seeking direct mentorship from highly resourced and profiled facilitators who are presently available on the portal. Ambassadors/Prospective Associate Ambassadors can view the list of both Ambassadors and Associate Ambassadors and as well exchange messages and create contacts. They can know when last each of their colleagues logged into the portal. They can as well schedule and hold online meetings via the portal.

According to the ICT Director of this organization, Engr. Kunle Olatunji, this platform will not only unite about 100 ISERH Ambassadors and the Prospective 250 Associate Ambassadors, but give them access to a community of heterogeneous people of varied academic, career, ethnic, religious and political backgrounds. It is a platform abounds with opportunities of mingling and building cordial relationship among Ambassadors/Prospective Associate Ambassadors of varied social and economic family backgrounds. ‘How I wish I am an ISERH Ambassador/Associate Ambassador!’ – exclaimed the ICT Director.

Consequently, ISERH congratulates all her Ambassadors/Prospective Associate Ambassadors, and enjoins them to maximally utilize the opportunities abound the portal and as well visit the portal religiously.
