Dear Supporters!

This is just a short report to let you know, that the school gym constructions are still under way. We hoped that by now the gym would be ready. However, we had difficulties with the providing cash flow with the rate that would have been necessary.

We now give ourselves another three months to finish constructions.

I hope that I can serve you with better news next time.

Best regards,

  Szabolcs + the SZWNA team

Most további három hónapot adunk magunknak az építkezés befejezéséhez.

Remélem, hogy legközelebb jobb hírekkel szolgálhatlak.

Üdvözlettel,

   Szabolcs + az SZWNA csapat

Dear Supporters,

We are now approching the finalization of the school gym building. We really hope that within 3 months, the building will be ready to for the kids.

In the last three months works have been ongoing both outside and inside.

Outside landscaping and the construction of parking places is taking place. In April tenth grade students of our school helped planting trees. It is good to see that each tree seedling has its own adopter.

Inside the tiling of surfaces, mechanical works, electrical constructions are going on. An interesting "competition" is taking place within the building. Many-many hundreds of meters of wires and pipes are being built into the building by one group of craftsmen, while other craftsmen are busy working on removing these from the eye.

I hope that the second group will win :)

Stay tuned to find out what will be the end result.

Best regards,

  Szabolcs + the SZWNA team

Áprilisban a tizedikes diákok segítettek a fák ültetésében.

Dear Supporters!

(magyarul lsd. alább)

This report is going to be short, since - as I mentioned in the previous report - we almost hibernated constructions for the winter.

Nevertheless, among other smaller things, there were a few interesting developments:

(1) All the big engineering equipment has arrived. Gosh, they are big! We had to temporarily disassemble part of the roof to put them into place.

(2) It is a nice custom, that the parental community of our school organises an annual carnival in late February. Psst, don't tell anyone: this year we held it in the small hall of the new school gym. It was fantastic!

More and more people are now getting to know the building and are eagerly waiting for its opening ceremony after which their real owners, children can take possession of it.

I hope to send you news about lots of development in my next report.

Best regards and happy carnival - or skiing - season,

    Szabolcs + the SZWNA team

(1) Végre megérkeztek a gépészeti nagyberendezések.

Dear Supporters!

(MAGYARUL A CSATOLMÁNYBAN)

Another three month has passed. The Advent period has started and soon Christmas is coming. We can feel that nature is withdrawing its forces from the summer liveliness into an inner reflection.

And so are we doing with the construction works. After we successfully survived a financial crisis in August, we had to re-plan the construction schedule to reflect the new realities of our cashflow plan. This meant that we had to accept, that the construction will slow down for the autumn period and things will take longer than we expected.

During the last three months internal works have been going on, such as basic engineering and electrical installations, plastering and painting.

What still remains is the inner tiling, the sports floor, the mechanical and electrical finishing, and the installation of sports technology. These will be postponed until next spring.

Oh, and the kids are still missing from the gym, though they are eager to move in. Just look at the picture - the gym is beautiful, but it is soooo empty yet.

In mid-October we held an information forum for the school community about the construction. We took the courage to keep it in the gym hall. Of course, everyone liked the walk inside and around the building. But why I actually write about this is that our teachers sang a song in the main hall and it sounded so fantastic that everybody listened to it with fascination. Someone later remarked that "the soul of the building was born".

With these thoughts I wish you a blessed advent period.

Szabolcs Kátai + the SZWNA team

PS: We are planning to name the school gym. We decided that we offer the opportunity to our supporters to suggest a name. So I invite you to send us your idea for the name of our gym hall. You can do this in a response email to our personal thank you letter which we send after your next donation. We are really curious what names will come around!

Dear Supporters,

(MAGYARUL A CSATOLMÁNYBAN)

I'm always filled with enthusiasm when I get the opportunity to write to you about the progress of our project. Even in difficult times, like now.

You are a supporter of our project. You have given "the extention of your will" - your money - to us, and you became part of our community. So you deserve to celebrate together with us, when the gym is completed.

However, till then we still need to make further efforts. Here is how ...

While most of us were on summer holiday, the construction of our school gym continued. The outside of the building is now almost ready.

I hope you also find it amazing - as I promised in the previous report :)

The work continues inside with engineering work (heating, drainage, ...) and coatings (plaster, tiles, sports floor, ...)  and in the surroundings (roads, lawn, ...).

We had a financial crisis early August, however, thanks to the help of our school community we received further loans and we could continue the construction. It is so wonderful to see that in the middle of the summer holiday season some 29 families offered loans to help us out.

As we are getting closer to the end of the construction, also we are getting closer to the limits of our current budget - and with a boom in Hungarian construction industry where prices are raising month by month - and our position is getting more and more difficult.

It seems important now that we raise further funds, to be able to safely finish the construction.

So we need to get closer to our fundraising goal - posted on our GlobalGiving project site - as well.

There is a good opportunity now to increase the impact of your further support: on 12 September 2018, there will be a GlobalGiving Bonus Day, where donations will be matched. This time...

  • $50,000 will be distributed proportionally among participant projects
  • all new recurring donations will receive a 100% match

Furthermore, as a little surprise gift for your donation: I know that many of you live far away from Hungary and have no opportunity to visit and see the gym with your own eyes. So we will send you a personalised photo from the most beautiful parts of the building. And believe me, there are some.

If you donate at least $90, then you can even choose which part wou would like to see :)

Please be aware that the campaign timing is this:

  • Washington DC time zone: 00.00, Wednesday, 12 Sept 2018 - 09.00, Thursday, 13 Sept 2018
  • Western/Central European time zone: 06.00, Wednesday, 12 Sept 2018 - 15.00, Thursday, 13 Sept 2018

Children are really eager to start using the gym. Let's make their wish come true!

Thank you in advance for your kind support!

We would be even more grateful if you would recommend our project to a friend, family member, or colleague and call their attention to the above campaign. Be assured, they will also get their surprise gift :)

Kind regards,

Szabolcs Kátai and the SZWNA team
