Training the peer-to-peer trainers
New year, new dreams, and new plans for the new team of junior trainers at Leardership Academy GLOW!
By the end of 2023, the team of new peer-to-peer trainers had joined Leadership Academy GLOW. Girls that were campers in the last edition of GLOW this summer, after a rigorous selection process, formed the new staff team that will make Leadership Academy 2024 happen. The junior trainers already passed a 2-day intensive training on the specifics of working in small groups and how to plan workshops and parties. Next week, the team will pass a second training online on how to plan educational sessions and prepare youth initiatives.
In 2024, a new teaching approach will be tested in Leadership Academy GLOW, aimed at meeting the need of contemporary children for a more holistic approach to education. The approach is based on the analysis of the feedback and suggestions provided by the participants last year.

GLOW Leadership Academy 2023

In Veliko Tarnovo this summer, for the 23rd consecutive year, young women from all around Bulgaria came together to collaborate and encourage one another. The participants represented 15 different locations around Bulgaria.
Our group of youth educators successfully implemented the revised approach developed with input from participants from previous years. All the exercises focused on the students and were designed to be engaging, boosting the students' communication abilities and encouraging the girls to venture outside their comfort zones and into their true potential. This year's curriculum included new workshops on stress management, practical life skills such as sewing and travel planning in addition to the usual fare of communication, goal setting, leadership, and self-confidence.
Participants and peer-trainers collaborated on a large-scale social effort in the city of Veliko Tarnovo aimed at promoting the ecological education and raising the public awareness on recycling.

With Leadership Academy GLOW 2023 approaching, the final preparations are taking place. After a double-blind evaluation of each application, 60 girls from all over Bulgaria were selected to take part in the camp this summer.
Our young peer-to-peer trainers are now actively preparing for the sessions and activities. They went through intensive 3-day training in Veliko Tarnovo on how to work effectively together online, and how to plan and prepare sessions for a small and medium group of young people. We have also updated the program for the Academy based on a study of the current needs of young Bulgarian girls. New practical life skills workshops will be introduced.
