Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) Leadership Academy

The New Year starts for GLOW Academy with the first preparation activities for the 2022 edition of the camp is to be held in July. 20 young girls aged 15 to 18 years from the alumni were selected to be the new peer-to-peer trainers. They come from all around Bulgaria. 

At the beginning of February, the new trainers participated in online training. The subjects in the training included group work planning, leadership, motivation, mediation, and presentation of new ways of time management and planning. In the following months, the girls will work on several practical tasks online in order to learn by doing how to be a group leader and get more confident in public speaking.        

Meanwhile, our quest for the participants of GLOW Leadership Academy 2022 begins. This summer 65 girls from all over Bulgaria will gather in Veliko Tarnovo to rediscover their personal strenghts and confidence. In dinamic group activities will learn how to effectively work in a group, assertive communication, self security in the social media, time management, goal setting and more.

At the end of July 2021, 85 Bulgarian girls gathered together to rediscover side by side their strength and potential. It was an amazing and inspiring week, with a diverse group of girls from all over Bulgaria. During the one-week training, the girls gathered useful knowledge on important issues such as self-esteem, public speaking, netiquette. They also practiced key skills such as teamwork, time management, and planning.

Overcoming the challenges of the pandemic situation all activities were conducted outside respecting a distance between the participants.

In September, 18 of this amazing group of girls were selected to be trained further to become the new junior trainers for Leadership academy GLOW 2022. This marked the beginning of the next camp preparation.    

With only five months to GLOW Leadership Academy 2021, the preparation of the camp is at full speed.

The staff members, girls 16 to 18 years old from 9 different towns and cities around Bulgaria have already started working on planning the activities to be included and the updates in the program. At the end of January, the young trainers took part in an online teambuilding seminar specially planned for them by our senior alumni. During the seminar, they learned more about how to moderate a discussion, manage their time, plan a session. Special focus was placed on improving their emotional intelligence in order to be better team leaders and provide the support the future campers will need.
