Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) Leadership Academy

We are counting the last days till the 20th anniversary of Leadership Academy GLOW. In the last week of July, we will gather again girls from all over Bulgaria to support them in their personal development and to provide them with the skills and knowledge needed on effective assertive communication, teamwork, leadership and others.

The team of volunteers of Leadership Academy GLOW is working even harder this year We have successfully replanned the activities for the Academy in order to provide safety of its participants and staff by assuring the necessary distance among the girls, providing protective equipment for all and planning the disinfection. This year Leadership Academy GLOW is going to add even more to building healthy habits in the girls as all our activities will be conducted outdoors and we have included a special session on training how to do personal protection.

This year is very special as we celebrate 20 years of changing the lives of Bulgaria teenage girls, 20 years of supporting each other, 20 years of teamwork! Thank you for making all this possible!

The 2020 GLOW trainers team of girls 16 to 18 years old from 13 different towns and villages around Bulgaria passed an intensive 3-day training focused on group management, teamwork, emotional intelligence etc. During the training they also practiced their presentation skills by sharing their ideas for new sessions and workshops specially created by them to be included in the program of the Academy this summer. 

Together, as a team, they set their goals and vision for the Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) Leadership Academy 2020 and the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the camp.

With the help of your generous donation for Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) Leadership Academy 2019, the team of young volunteers touched the lives of 65 girls from 23 different communities from all over Bulgaria! 

Now, getting closer to the end of the year, we have actively started working on the 2020 edition of GLOW Leadership Academy. This is going to be a very special year for the GLOW team and for all the GLOW supporters as we will be celebrating 20 years anniversary of changing the lives of Bulgaria girls!

The staff team of the Academy has just been selected among the best participants from previous years and has already started its first training tasks focused on techniques for successful teamwork. The staff members, girls 16 to 18 years old from 13 different towns and villages around Bulgaria, will be responsible for leading group activities for next year’s campers as well as supporting the overall organization of the Academy.  

Stay tuned as we have prepared a lot of surprises for all our supporters to celebrate together the 20th anniversary of Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) Leadership Academy!

Less than two weeks from Leadership Academy GLOW 2019 the team is getting all the final details ready. Excited to meet the new participants our 25 peer trainers are working on their topic presentations and the logistics of the training.

What have they planned? A lot of interactive activities, sessions, and workshops to introduce the 65 teenage participants to leadership, teamwork, communication, goal setting, and self-esteem, as well as important social elements as sustainable living, community work, and voluntarism. Special guests will inform the young Bulgarian girls on a large scale of educational opportunities they can profit from and guide how to do it.

March is a month dedicated to women and the volunteer trainers in GLOW Leadership Academy spend it spreading the GLOW spirit around Bulgaria. The 16 teenage girls organized discussions all over the country for their female peers to show them the support and the motivation needed to go further in their education as well as in their dreams. 

At the same time, the GLOW alumni had the chance to apply for the mentorship program organized by GLOW Leadership Academy. The program is a 6-month venture with pairs more experienced GLOW alumnae with a younger such, aiming at inspiring, supporting and empowering the girls, who have already gone through our summer program successfully, by creating a unique schedule, tailored towards the mentor's and mentee's needs.
