Leadership Academy GLOW 2018 starts this week!

With the help of your generous donation Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) Leadership Academy 2018 starts this week!
25 peer trainers will work on improving their self-esteem and leadership skills in a variety of interactive sessions and simulations in order to afterwards conduct a life changing experience for girls coming from 18 different communities accross the country,
This year the Academy will again include diverse interactive sessions dedicated to leadership, teamwork, effective communication, decision making, public speaking, online image and gender roles, as well as several themes selected by the teenagers themselves. Special focus is posed on healthy living through physical activities such as yoga, Pilates and dancing and eating disorders prevention.

Spreading the knowledge

The preparation of Leadership academy GLOW 2018 actively continues. Our trainers are already working on planning the perfect sessions and workshops for the campers this summer. The organization's team of volunteers has been also working on new lessons for the camper's manual, adding a variety of new topics. This year our young trainers will also conduct presentations in 6 different communities and online on topics concerning the young Bulgarian girls including issues such as Healthy living, Making first impression, How to study effectively, Girls in the ICT and others.
The application process for Leadership academy GLOW 2018 has started in March and more than 1000 invitations were sent out to schools, non-governmental organizations and individuals working with young people in order to reach girls ages 14 to 18 years old from all parts of the country.

Training has began!

At the beginning of February 2018 the new staff members of GLOW Leadership Academy will undergo an intensive 3-day training focused on group moderation, techniques for successful teamwork, working with children etc. During the training they will not only improve their knowledge of the themes but also practice their presentation skills by sharing their ideas for new sessions specially created by them to be included in the program of the Academy this summer.
The twenty staff members of GLOW Leadership Academy 2018 come from twelve different communities, raging from small villages to the capital of Bulgaria. The future trainers were selected among the participants in the previous editions of GLOW Leadership Academy.
With the start of the new year launched also the process of nomination of girls for participation in GLOW Leadership Academy 2018. So if you know a girl, 14-18 years old, living in Bulgaria and with active attitude in school and the community, nominate her for participation through this online form (if you need the form in English, contact us by email or Facebook).
