South Sudan is out of medicines to treat people

Thanks for your continued gift to fund Healthcare in South Sudan.

Your patients did not go without drugs instead of using voodoo. They get treated in a health post. The sick get medicines because of your contributions and money from other sources.

This year alone you save the lives of 65 children and 102 villagers. You provided six boxes Chloroquine and two boxes Azithromycin that we delivered to a clinic.

Hope Ofiriha will be sending you a new field update after a quarter to keep you inform  of what impact your gift is helping to create direct from the field.

It has been four years since South Sudan became an independent nation and less than two years since it erupted into civil war. Since then human rights abuses have been rampant.

Both sides have committed appalling and unspeakable crimes against innocent men, children, women, and elderly.

The fighting has displaced over 2 million people from their homes and left several people dead.

Before the crisis began the needs around healthcare were very tremendous. Now, the needs are unprecedented.

We have remained hopeful that a peace deal will be signed and conflict resolved, but yet there is no end in sight.

Hope Ofiriha's objective is to meeting the healthcare needs of the poor in Omilling, Magwi County.

It operates small, professionally administered village clinic that is only available health post for hundreds of local villagers.

At no charge fee, the clinic offers vaccinations, brief routine exams and other essential services.

It runs educational campaigns in the villages to raise awareness of health topics such as immunization, hygiene, and proper food cooking.

Your patients did not go without drugs, instead of using voodoo, they get treatment in a village clinic. You treated them, give them medicines when they are sick, and you give them mosquito nets to fend off malaria. Because of you, they are healthy and happy. You changed the lives of 35 patients and their 15 children through your support! You provided 15 boxes Chloroquine and 12 boxes Azithromycin. We will deliver these medicines to a village clinic if the social unrest improves earlier April in Magwi County.

Hope Ofiriha will be sending you a new field update after a quarter to keep you inform what impact your gift is helping to create direct from the field.

Owinyikibul villagers clashed with new recruits in earlier March. The government and the opposition have failed to reach a peace deal despite the pressure from IGAD, UN, and the World. There are new fierce clashes in Jonglei and Upper Nile States. Humanitarian situation is worsening. There are 1.5 million people displaced from their villages of which some are living in exile as refugees.

In Owinyikibul of Magwi County, new soldiers recruit clashed with local villagers earlier March. The drunken soldier had refused to pay for the services where he was stuck in a bar fighting. He then organized his fellow recruits burning more than 100 houses and market stalls in retaliation. One recruit in the clashes. A chief has blamed the trainers for failing to keep discipline.

Delivering medicines for Omilling village clinic

Hope Ofiriha wishes you a Merry Christmas, and a prosperous new year!

There is no political agreement reach between the government and SPLA in opposition despite the IGAD sponsored peace talks in Adisababa since the alleged coup. South Sudan is getting worse every day, and hope for peace is weak as the clashes continue to take place in Jonglei state between the regime and rebel forces.

Despite the glimmer of hope, the world newest country remains a troubled nation. People are continuing to flee into Uganda, and long-time refugees in the country fear to return home.

Thanks for your recent donation to Fund Healthcare and medicines in South Sudan project.

Your recent contributions and donations from South Sudanese in Diaspora helped to supply the village clinic with: four boxes malaria tablet, six boxes hydrochloride, two boxes Daktacort and three boxes Clotrimazole.

Due to much rain it is impossible for Noah Van to drive on the muddy road to Omilling. The only vehicle that manages in this harsh environment is the veteran 4x4 Land Rover Defender. However, it is grounded down for an accident.

The supplies had been delivered to a clinic that is 25 kilometers away from Omilling, and the chief will make the arrangement with the to transport these supplies to the village clinic.

The clinic has been educating parents about the dangers of using witch doctors. This resulted in a decrease in parents taking their children to witchcrafts that led to an increase in the number of boys, girls, and adults needing the outpatient services, thus increased clinic operation costs.

In the next quarter, a new field progress report will be posted, so that you get to know how the impact of your contribution is saving lives from the project on the ground.

If Omilling is to prosper health must be addressed
If Omilling is to prosper health must be addressed

Thanks for your recent generous donation to Fund Healthcare and medicines in South Sudan project.

With your donation, and money from South Sudanese in Diaspora we purchased and supplied the clinic with eight box malaria tablet, five box hydrochloride, six box Daktacort, and six box Clotrimazole.

It has been raining heavily in the last few months, which resulted in driving to Omilling nearly impossible. However, the veteran 4X4 Land Rover Defender manages well in a harsh environment. It has reached Omilling after a fierce fight with water and muddy road.

If the next generation is to prosper in Omilling it is so important that the issue of children's health is addressed.

The clinic has also been educating parents about the dangers of using witch doctors. This has resulted in a marked decrease in parents taking their children to these people, but of course this has led to an increase in the numbers of children and adults attending the outpatient services, and thus increased treatment costs for the clinic.

All of this has dramatically increased the funding required to run the clinic. In 2014 we need to do more to ensure all those children needing treatment can get it. Every child's life is so precious and we will do whatever it takes to help them.

South Sudan on the Brink of Famine as Fighting Rages On. Aid agencies predict that South Sudan could be headed for the worst famine since the 1984 Ethiopian famine.

The United Nations has warned that a famine looms if there is no end to the fighting that erupted in mid-December between the government and rebels. More than a third of the nation's roughly 11 million people could be on the brink of starvation by the end of the year, UN officials claim.

In the next quarter, a new field progress report will be posted, so that you get to know how the impact of your contribution is saving lives from Omilling the project ground.

without Land Rover We can't get to Omilling
without Land Rover We can't get to Omilling

Thanks for your recent generous donation to Fund Healthcare and medicines in South Sudan.

Only months ago an alleged coup in South Sudan has left hundreds dead, and many in the region concerned for what the coming months may bring for the world's youngest country.

More than one million people have been forced from their homes by the ongoing conflict in South Sudan, the UN says. Of these, 803,200 have been displaced within the country, and another 254,000 have fled to neighboring countries, according to the latest UN report. It warns that the situation is likely to get worse as the violence continues.

Driving to Omilling went well because it has just started to rain. The road is very bad but the veteran 4x4 Land rover defender is suited for driving in harsh condition, and in the worst period it fights unpaved road to and from Omilling. In the months to come we will do our best to get the supplies to the clinic to save lives. The population had increased because people are moving from towns to do domestic farming in the village. This had added pressure on the scarce resources not enough to meet the growing demand of the output services on a daily basis.

With your contribution the following are supplied - seven small boxes malaria tablets, four box Terbinafine/hydrochloride, six boxes Daktacort, and boxes Clotrimazole/hydrocortisone.

In the next quarter a new progress field report will be posted, so that you get to know how the impact of your contribution is saving lives in the ground.
