Give medicines to the poorest of poor.

By Linda Acen Abili | Program director

Villagers die every day in Omilling from fevers, infections and vitamin deficiencies left untreated because there are no medicines or nutritional supplements available.

On 08- Feb - 2011 president Omer al-Bashir, issued a republican decree accepting the final results of referendum, which supports the separation of the South into an independent state. North and South Sudan are presently engaged in talks to resolve the sensitive issues, which includes sharing of oil revenues, demarcation of boarders, and the contested oil-rich Abyei region.

Simple medications which are taken for granted in USA and Japan are not available to the Omilling Village. In these two countries they assume that aspirin to reduce high fevers and antibiotics will automatically be available when they need them. But in south Sudan there are no medicines to treat the patients.

To the poorest of the poor, these medicines can literally save lives if they can obtain them. Villagers die every day from fevers, infections and vitamin deficiencies left untreated because there are no medicines or nutritional supplements available. Very only health post exist is frequently run out of items as basic as gauge, bandages and rubbing alcohol to cleanse the dress simple cuts.

Illnesses and wounds, otherwise easily managed with proper resources, escalate to life-damaging or even life-threatening tragedies. Hope Ofiriha often delivers medicines to Loheru Healthcare Post with the help  from GlobalGiving donors. Funding is needed to make sure these urgently – needed medicines reach the poor women, men and children in Omilling village of south Sudan.

For every $10 donated last year, we were able to provide medicines to treat 5 patients suffering from fever, and $50 to give medication to 200 children suffering with pneumonia. That means if you $100 donation it will send 10 women to visit a gynecologist for complicated pregnancy.

In the months ahead we will have lots of news to report on the impact of your donation and clearly to demonstrate how your contributions are making changes in the lives of the poorest of the poor. We are looking forward in working with you in years to come until the goal of this project is achieve.

Thanks for joining hands with Hope Ofiriha!
