We love the power of GlobalGiving to connect people from around the world to support projects near and dear to their hearts.
In February Edison Middle School in Wheaton, IL contacted Act4Africa after reading about Kathy's Kindergarten on GlobalGiving. Moved with compassion for the children of rural Uganda, two students from Edison Middle School ran a Penny War fundraiser, collecting over $1,600 in donations! We at Act4Africa are so overjoyed to have been supported in this way. The money has been sent to Kathy's Kindergarten, where the locally-based staff have purchased 30 chairs and 8 tables for the young pupils to sit at during meal times. The funds will also cover the salary for one new teacher for an entire year! In the near future, the team will be purchasing more tables and chairs to use within the classrooms. These may sound like small improvements, but in rural Uganda donations like this can make a huge impact. Children who attend Kathy's Kindergarten are prepared for primary school, they enter formal education ready to learn, with confidence and curiosity. With this foundation, their education takes flight and they can reach their dreams. With this donation from Edison Middle School, the pupils at Kathy's Kindergarten will be even better supported in their learning and development.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
