By Jennifer Akullu | Lead Teacher at Kathy's Kindergarten
Kathy's Kindergarten has reopened and our lead teacher Jennifer would love to tell you all about the joys and challenges that brings. Please see the video using the link below.
Jennifer says "Its been really, really long but we have finally come back to school! For this year, the turn-up have been really really good. I would say it is overwhelming because we have received a higher number [of pupils] than we have ever had before, and for that reason we are having a few challenges here and there. Besides the high number, they have grown! The little ones are not so little anymore! It's been two years and they have not been in school. But the beauty about it is that their minds have also grown, so it's not giving us a hard time to teach them. They pick up very fast and it's easy for us to teach them. It is challenging because they are not used to the school environment, [during lock down] they were just used to being at home and not learning, just eating food and eating food, and playing. But here we set them in an environment for learning, and learning through play, and they are adjusting to that. Anyway they have come back and they still love us, and we will overcome our challenges together."
Thank you so much for continuing to support our work to provide high-quality early years education to children in Uganda!
