May I wish you a ''Blessed New Year'' and thankyou for your continued interest, prayer and financial support for GLH. Kevin and Valma Joined me in Uganda to get on with the roof work of the school Block . We have been looking after orphans for 12 years now at considerable cost. Maybe this is a good time to take stock. The bare bones. At present there are 36 children of primary age or less (15 in the orphanage, GLH, and 21 supported with Guardians; this is an interesting model as there is a move away from big orphanages but GLH retains the advantages of both). There are a further 16 supported in Further Education. They have come into our care for a variety of reasons; AIDS orphans, found abandoned by police, referred by Council, etc and one orphaned by Ebola. Over the years some 30 have left our immediate care, many now in employment. One young man got a distinction in Diploma of Law, is qualified to go to the University but lacks fees. GLH still cannot get official funders and just does not have the resources to fund university but this is a very sad case.

GLH  shares premises with the Junior Classes of GLS. There is separate accommodation in bunks for boys and girls. Matron looks after them and manages to feed them well on a tight budget. Kwashiakor is no longer an issue and illness much reduced using regularly inspected mosquito nets. Matron is a key member of the team but is wondering how much longer she can continue looking after the children as she is not well and not getting younger. You may remember one of the children was injured in a traffic accident; she is still affected with recurring headaches. There should be official funds available to support orphans etc but we have been unable to access them. Uganda, sadly, scored badly on an international corruption scale, an issue that affects so many aspects.

GLS.   The top 4 Classes are on the lower campus in the new building. The aim of GLS is twofold; to provide a good Christ centered education and, from the fees from surplus places, generate funds for GLH. We had our first class that sat the Government P7 leaving exams and all achieved a grade 1 or 2. This is a superb achievement. However it is a poor neighbourhood and “ you cannot expect dry cows to give good milk” so fees are too low to cover costs. They need to develop a model where the fees are high for those who can afford (but grants and bursaries are available for the genuinely unable). The school needs to be self funding or a sponsor found; GLS cannot continue to be a drain on the organisation . There are unfilled spaces . GLH has pupils in the younger classes and the older ones but there are several years with no GLH in them

GLS2. The very success of the P7 leaving class has caused a problem. There were 4 from GLH and this year there will be a further 5 that could go to secondary school. To fund them the budget would need to be doubled. So for the first two years of secondary we have set up a small unit, partly self taught, to teach the 8 basic subjects for O level. We obtained syllabii and schemes of work from a nearby secondary school.

GLV .   Girls at 13 are too young to be independent so GLH has started a small unit for ex GLH pupils teaching elementary sewing and hairdressing. Our students take the exams of a local technical college (getting grade B). There are 6 in year 2 and 1 in year 1. Their teacher lives with them and supervises them. Other. There are a further 3 in Secondary and Vocational School 2

Dear Friends, 07-10-19

Thank you for your continued support and Prayers for GLS, GLV and GLH. God has given us another chance to share about the school progress. Lovely and busy months with all the blessings of the seasons in the garden and the projects. Our primary seven sits for there exams on 2-4 November, some senior four students like Sharon starts their final exams on 14-October ,some of our staff like Julius ,Ritah to go for marking P.L.E exams, preparations for Nursery class graduations & end of year celebrations, Barbra graduating for certificate in accountancy on 25-October.

The Lord has brought us his angel with a donation for building project, nearly 50% of what we have been looking for to finish our classroom block. We hope to start on the building by 1/December/2019 when the school isn’t running in the long holidays. Subsequently, another friend has given us $1000 for children feeding (You could see children eating their meals) – Glory to the Lord of Heaven and Earth!

School has just started for a final term this year – We hope to be very busy –Nursery class will be graduating to primary one – Normally there are always end of year celebrations, there is a renewal application process required by Global Giving every after every two years and the time is now, this takes a considerable time to do, expected visitors before the year ends etc.

• Lusolo will be travelling to farewell his longtime friend in the USA who has a ticket in hands to heaven any time (Doctors have predicted 75 days to die following his cancer issues) – Pray for this friend and Lusolo.

Psalm 138:8 I know that the Lord will work out his plans for GLH future. “Please finish O Lord what you started”. Please keep up the “good” work. Things eventually come together for me because you pray. I am so privileged to be continually reinforced by angels and I sincerely thank you for your part in that

Breakfast in progress

Dear Friends, 11-07-19

Thank you for your continued support to GLS, GLV and GLH. God has given us another chance to share about the school progress. We have made some progress on our classroom building project-We are happy to report that the classrooms are in use now. Praise the Lord! The real challenge is now on children playground, Kitchen and Pit latrine (more convenient to children), classroom desks, Tables, scholastic materials, clothes and Children feeding:

GLS playing on a neighborhood ground during weekend. We are blessed to welcome student teachers who are here to learn the practical aspect of their teaching. They help our children with both class work and physical exercise during break times. We do hope that this exercise will produce a good feedback to heath/learning life of our children. Primary 7 are very much fixed to studies with Julius, Justus and others doing great. We pray that our creator will value this effort for his glory. In this report , I felt a nag from the Lord to share about two specific children progress in words and pictures –Sharon and Elizabeth who both Joined us when babies – God has seen them through , Sharon in secondary four and Elizabeth in primary 5 .
Sharon’s words: - I had no hope of schooling but, I am now in senior four. I got saved after meeting James- James furthered my education from primary level to now secondary level. I will be doing UNEB in November this year. I have learnt hair dressing along the way within God’s Love Vocational school. I eat, drink and assured of medical treatment when I fall sick. Elizabeth(E) ; Double orphaned due to Aids – she has an Older brother in p6 who is HIV positive (Mother to birth infection) - E survived from infected because the mother had known her status and started medication during pregnancy –sadly she died leaving E and the brother with us .
May the Lord bless you for supporting children like Sharon and Elizabeth and we pray that you will continue standing with them and many others at GLH.
There has been issues of mumps among the children, now past, but high medical expenses

2-Regular funder to come on board. We are praying for $1,150 monthly for 5 years to be able to maintain the support we are giving. Any contact to friends outside there will be appreciated.
3- Reading books for the children, classroom chairs and Tables needed.
4- Funds to purchase 50ft by 100ft plot of Land for children play
5- My applications and Farming to find favor from the Lord – He has promised to bless the works of our hands
