Dear Friends,

We thank God for being faithful to us in all situations of many challenges. I want to focus on a few points. I had an accident moving 2 heavy bags of flour with the bicycle and damaged my knee so an off work. One  of the original staff, is acting Headteacher as both  of us  are out of action. On 18/09/2023 we resumed our third school term. The reporting rate is always low because children struggle to find money for scholastic materials and some small amount of fees; previously we agreed with parents to raise at least 50 % fees on reporting sadly it has not been honoured due to poverty. 125 children have reported so far with more expected. There has been one critical issue of a child (not GLH) breaking our glass. There are rules for replacement for any broken glass but this rule wasn’t honoured by the female parent who instead came for an angry dispute with our headteacher. We decided to expel the child with immediate notice. Both the child and the parent have continued to come to me for apology but the headteacher  has said no no-matter how much they could pay (It was high indiscipline from the parent). Our older girls have been supported with AU$ 500. Two older  are running small shop selling the Toiletries to the community: they have bought them in bulk so they can continue using monthly as they sell them to community getting some profits as they continue re-stocking. This is just part of what they own in their small soap largely dealing in charcoal, Beans, Maize flour and eggs. This is their source of income for themselves to continue alone. They continue praying for a fridge so they can sell water and sodas, also eggs. Most of our girls have gone outside in Saudi Arabia but they report negatively. Wise to support these girls’ ideas for the glory of God. Allen had started teaching nursery section at GLH but the ministry of Education stopped her that she wasn’t qualified for teaching. All opportunities to help Allen to do nursery course needed money – currently one of our teachers is in Lubaale college /western Uganda. Another girl is nearly finishing nursery course from a nearby college. There are 4 girls wanting to do nursery teacher course should fees be got. I am excited to report to you that 6 children are being sponsored – 3 by one generous sponsor and the three by individual friends. As more continue on self-study reading within the GLH premises. The question remains, are they getting a full dose? You will remember we lack enough science apparatus. Gerald; Last months I talked about him having been sponsored by generous donor to graduate to Bachelor’s degree in Law. However, he still needs to take 9 months course to become an Advocate (I hear it is called Bar Course).

Briefly Gerald came to GLH when he was very young after losing both of his parents, he is now 27. One specific donor has supported his education in law. He needs the Bar Course to be an Advocate. Any support to bring his dream to pass will be appreciated. We are so grateful for so much Learning has started well, food provided, medical bills paid, 6 children sponsored for secondary, Girl’s ideas supported with $ 500 Requests; Funding for Secondary/further education, Gerald wants to study Bar course to qualify as an Advocate, 5 bed bunks, kitchen building, child sponsorship, Quick healing of GLH staff, Girls fridge for their small business. My WhatsApp number is +256770380342

Blessings,
