Project Report | Apr 7, 2026
Enhanced Food Security and Family Well-being

By Sopheat Tes | Executive Director

During this period, ODOV staff conducted consistent weekly and monthly monitoring to identify farmer needs and provide rapid solutions to field challenges. Key obstacles included poultry diseases, crop pests, and water management issues. To address these, we helped farmers adapt their techniques to seasonal climate shifts. Beyond agriculture, ODOV provided social training on peacebuilding, gender equality, and women’s rights. A central focus was the "10 Characteristics of a Happy Family," which successfully reduced domestic violence and encouraged a fairer sharing of household chores.

These efforts led to a clear shift in the mindset and behavior of participating farmers. By mastering modern farming and fostering mutual respect, families created a more peaceful home environment. This transformation improved local stability and notably reduced migration rates, as families found sustainable opportunities within their own villages.

The economic results were substantial. Farmers produced 53,000 kg of vegetables, earning $27,875 from surplus sales after meeting their own food needs. In the poultry sector, they produced 1,800 kg of meat and earned $3,880, while maintaining healthy stocks for future demand.

Despite challenges like extreme heat and animal health issues, ODOV helped farmers maintain stability through vaccination protocols and water-saving systems. Moving forward, we remain committed to helping farmers scale up production. By continuing the "Happy Family" lessons, ODOV ensures that households achieve both steady livelihoods and long-lasting happiness.
