During the reporting period, the field staff of the Organization to Develop Our Villages (ODOV) consistently monitored and provided capacity-building support to 50 target households, including 31 female-headed families, through structured follow-up visits. These sessions delivered updated methodologies in crop cultivation and poultry production while effectively integrating essential social education on peacebuilding, gender equality, and domestic violence prevention.
Technical interventions equipped all participating households with comprehensive, climate-resilient agricultural knowledge. Key focus areas included advanced land preparation, organic compost and natural growth promoter formulation, climate adaptation strategies, and water-saving irrigation practices for crops such as yardlong beans, bottle gourds, luffa, cucumbers, and eggplants to mitigate the impacts of prolonged high temperatures. Additionally, farmers received specialized technical knowledge in poultry husbandry and flock health management utilizing both commercial and natural vaccines.
These collaborative efforts successfully strengthened household food security, ensured a reliable supply of safe vegetables and poultry for domestic consumption, and elevated overall living standards. Total vegetable production reached 48,500 kilograms, with 9,200 kilograms utilized locally and the surplus generating $19,250 USD in market revenue. In the poultry sector, after fulfilling household nutritional requirements, surplus meat chicken sales yielded $3,940 USD. Cumulative revenues reached $23,590 USD, representing an average incremental income of $471.80 USD per household over the four-month timeframe.
Alongside these productive milestones, field personnel facilitated awareness sessions emphasizing gender equality and non-violent communication. These initiatives fostered balanced domestic roles between spouses, reduced household tension, and promoted harmonious family dynamics across the target communities.
In conclusion, this project successfully enhanced food security, increased household economic resilience, and strengthened social cohesion among returned migrant families, laying a solid foundation for sustainable community development.
