Trillis
Trillis

Hi,

We are sure by now you know the triplets at our children’s home! You have been generous with them and we know you would like to get to know them better.

María, Angeles and Lupis are almost 17, María and Angeles are identical twins and Lupis is physically very different. This year we had to move them to a new High School as María and Angeles need to be independent. They are so close that sometimes it seems as one can't survive without the other. They have not found their own identity and their therapist suggested that we enrolled them in different high schools. Above that, Puerta Abierta has the policy of giving them the opportunity to attend a High School that will assure them also a technical degree, this is possible in México and will give them new tools to become self-sufficient and independent.

It’s a challenge as they loved their old school, specially María, who strongly opposed to the idea last year. After a lot of thought and talks with the 3 of them they have come to the conclusion that this is a new opportunity for them!
Lupis choose gastronomy as her technical degree, Angeles IT and María administration. It gave them a apportunity  to think about their future and to choose what they think they will like to do as a university degree later on.
It's now been 2 weeks since they started school and I can tell you that Lupis and Angeles are enjoining this new experience. María as teenager won´t admit that she is happy but we can see and hear that she is very happy. It always surprises us how easily children adapt and how resilient they are.

Your generous donation over this years has helped us to give them the possibilty to reach High School and have the knowledge to attend this new school. You are giving a huge opportunity not only  with an education of good quality but a loving family, so thanks to you donor for being part of the education of our girls. Its been amazing to be so close to them and be part of their development with the challenges it has, they have a very special energy among the 3 and they are building their future now.

EMOTIONAL counts

Another year of school is almost over. Many things have happened and our little girls have grown up.  So I’m here to let you know what we have done thanks to you. Are you ready? Sit down, relax and open your heart.

Magui (the eldest) is studying at college with very good grades (wow! she had an average of 9 !) . Karla, the one who is studying gastronomy also had an average of 9 and has already cooked for us very good meals! The other little girls have passed their exams so they can pass to the next year. We are very proud of them, and of you. You make this possible, our girls are very thankful because thanks to you they are changing their life. Through knowledge they are changing their destiny. They are making their dreams come true as as we have been able to pay for their school fees, school supplies and tutorial support.

Knowledge makes your mind different, knowledge makes yourself more connected with your emotions or, like we say, helps to give voice to your emotions. You learn to tell others how  you feel and this is really important in the path of becoming a better human being. School is also this: emotional intelligence. So once again we have to thank you. Because in these three months our little girls have experienced a very strong separation. One of our staf had to move to another country, and they felt lost and sad. As you can imagine, because of their history, our little girls don’t live separations in a very good way. Obviously, we were very worried about their reactions. Obviously, they felt terrible, but the good news is they found the way to express how they felt. We are very surprised because instead of closing their hearts (like they usually did in order to protect themselves) they wrote a lot of letters to this person. They wrote and wrote, a river of letters. They spoke about being angry because of the separation, then they went through sadness and now they are experiencing the other part of the history: having a long distance friend to whom telling everything, knowing that even though of the distance this person will allways be ther for them!

Maybe you can’t imagine how important your help is, but please do believe me. You are giving to these girls the opportunity to have an education in a traditional way and in an emotional way; together we are creating functional girls. This means young people able to think and feel. Young people able to build their future and to believe in it. Together we are working to make a world’s heart beating in unison. Thank you, dear Donor. Not only for believing in our children but also for believing in changing their lives by giving them a part of your emotional intelligence.

We still need you. But I’m sure you know: change needs time and you are the most patient person I know.

With all our love,

Puerta Abierta I.A

Naza

TO LOVE IS A COMMON VERB

Dear donor,

Hope you are doing well! Today I would like to speak about love; today I would like to ask you to help us in order to make our children feel loved.

Love is a common word; even if you don’t speak English you know this word, I’m sure.

Everyone loves someone else. We all do it in different ways. Love is an abstract concept which influences everyone’s actions in their day by day routine.

When you don’t receive enough love, you start to feel empty and then, probably, you get angry at the world and you live in a anesthetizing state of mind.

That’s what happened to Nazareth, dear donor.

Naza (as she likes to be called) is a new component of the family Puerta Abierta I.A.P. She arrived with us from Mexico city because the foster home where she was living had to close. No one wanted Naza; she has a difficult story dear donor. She has been beaten by her biological family, then she moved to a foster home and then to another and another… until she reached the number of eight fosters homes. Eight. Can you imagine that? Why are you asking? Why did she change so many places to live in ? Because she’s an aggressive girl, she needs love but can’t express that and can become really violent. People don’t like Naza. She appears bad and without feelings. She doesn’t look pretty and she always looks at you with a gaze full of hate.

Please Donor, don’t run away; please read about Naza and about what we need to help her.

As you already understood, we accepted her in our institution. You know that we believe that love and family can change life and you know that we fight every day so that our little girls can change their future through a good quality education together with our family. Yes, we accepted Naza because she’s like a little puppy which was beaten every single day of her life and we didn’t want her on a street without hope. So now she is with us and we have a hard work to do. She doesn’t trust anyone; she challenges us every time and seems to not care of anyone or anything. However, we know she just has a protective external layer in order to not suffer. She is just waiting for the moment in which she will be sent to another institution. But we don’t want to give up. We want to help her. We want her to feel love in her heart. We want her to be confident of people, we want her to smile, we want to persuade her that life can be happy.

But we need your help; we need your support in order to pay her school and the therapies she needs. Naza needs psychological attention all day with her in order to be focused on her school and her heart.

She needs us to construct her life. She deserves a future.

Dear donor, I know it is not so easy to get in touch with Naza but remember: you learned to love because someone else loved you. Naza learned to hate because they hated her.

Together we can change her future, so please help us.

We will tell you about her advances in the next months, I promise.

With all our love (see how easy it is for us to use this world?)

Puerta Abierta I.A.P.

Dearest Donor,

We just want to remind you that your donation is supporting the Quality Education of our Girls and that this means you are investing in a world with No Violence as Education is the best instrument to fight violence.

Keep supporting the Tree of Dreams of Puerta Abierta this December with your generous donation. We need you to join this cause. In our last report 3 days ago you saw a picture of how many bracelets our Tree has and we need more, as we want 5000 dreams to stop violence. So keep dreaming with our girls and with Puerta Abierta

We want you all to thank you and Wish you the Best for 2017!

From the bottom of our heart,

The Girls of Puerta Abierta

Dear friends

How are you doing? We hope you are fine and happy, we hope you had a wonderful 2016!

Do you remember us? We are the board members of Puerta Abierta IAP, those who are dreaming, with you, of a better and more equal world.

That’s why we fight every single day together with you: we both strongly believe in the power of people’s solidarity, don’t we?

So my dear friend I want to tell you that we built a “Tree of Dreams”! are you excited? Now you are probably wondering, “what’s that? Is it a wooden tree?”.. yes, it’s a magical wooden tree, where people like you tie bracelets that we are selling all around Mexico to say and remind: STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN.

Yes, because in Mexico numbers are horrible: 60 out of 100 women are victims of some kind of violence, and 7 out of 10 children have been abused.

Where does violence come from? When I have no other means to modify my surrounding, I choose to modify the people that are in it; however, when I fail to do so, I try to control people by using violence and I let others control myself by receiving violence.

Today we want to ask you to help us, to choose your bracelets and to tie them to the “Tree of Dreams”. Your donations this December will help us, me and you, to change Mexico and all the rest of the world because we will be able to give our children the opportunity to keep on studying; education is the most powerful instrument to fight violence.

We need to educate our children in order to make them strong and able to dream a future different from the one full of abuse and fear that they suffered.

Dream with us like you always do; believe in children to change the world. All together we can make a huge difference. Donate this December so our girls keep up with their studies.

Every bracelet is different, each one has a different message: peace, love, well-being. Choose yours and be a part of this big challenge.

With all our hearts
