Wishing you all a Joyful and Prosperous New Year!
During this quarter the children in the special schools of Musiri Panchayath attended two special programmes.
The first one is the "Awareness program on good touch and bad touch". It was conducted in Musiri on 24.10.2018 for children from four special schools for child labourers and from three schools. It was jointly organised with the Rotary Club of Diamond City Queens. The program was conducted in the Government High School, Arangoor, Government High School, Alagarai, Girls' Higher Secondary School, Musiri. Special School Children from Arangoor, Manamedu, Alamarathupatti and Musiri participated in the program. Totally 1400 children were benefitted by the program.
Secondly, Children's Day was celebrated on 14th November in Kodiyampalayam Special School for Child Labourers. Children from the four special schools in Musiri panchayath participated in the program. Competitions were conducted for the children and prizes were given. Pass Books opened in the names of passed out students for the stipend amount given to the regular attendees of the special school were handed over to the parents of the children. The function was presided by the Project Director, CHEERS, Trichy.
During the Children's day, Azhagu (name changed) met me and hesitantly asked, "Madam, can you please help me to become a policeman?". I can see the eagerness, dream and also the fear of future shadowing his eyes. I said,"Why not?". Azhagu's face brightened with happiness and after thanking me he ran to his friends to share his joy.
Dear donors, I can see your hearts warming towards Azhagu. And you would love to know about him, before supporting him. Azhagu's father is an agricultural coolie. His mother died when he was 9, affected by a viral fever. His father remarried a blind woman who could not take care of Azhagu and his elder brother. Azhagu's father could not take care of his two children. Azhagu's brother is working in a mechanic shop in a nearby town.
Azhagu dropped out of studies while in 7th standard. He was doing petty jobs when our special school teacher found him. Now he is staying in our caretaker's home and studying in our special school. He is 14 now and should be admitted in a regular school with hostel. Azhagu loves to play carrom board.
Children like Azhagu are given hope by New Life to continue their studies only because of the generous donations you make dear donors. Kindly support your favourite project by donating and by spreading words about the project to your near and dear ones. Your words carry weight. You can make a one time donation to support a child or can choose to make a monthly donation that assures your support to a child.
Your first new monthly donation made during this giving season will be matched 100% by Global Giving and we have 4 more days to get this match.
Thanking you on behalf of our lovely children whose dreams are made a reality by you.
