Empower Rural Entrepreneurs in Uganda

We are excited to share progress from our women’s economic empowerment initiative. Thanks to the continued support of our generous donors, we have successfully provided interest-free microloans and business support to 10 women in rural communities.

This initiative is helping women start or expand small businesses, strengthen household incomes, and build financial independence.

Program Activities

• Microloan Disbursement: Provision of small, interest-free loans to support income-generating activities

• Group Support Systems: Formation of peer groups to encourage accountability and shared learning

I started Development Alert in 2020 with nothing but hope and a belief that change begins with what you have.

For almost three years, we worked without a website. Not because we did not want one, but because we simply lacked the resources. As a volunteer led nonprofit, this reality still shapes our work.

What has not changed is our commitment to our community and the trust we have built with partners like GlobalGiving.

Despite the challenges, our community impact has grown in ways that remind us why hope is a powerful place to begin.

Together, we have:
• Supported 1,200 disadvantaged children
• Provided clean and safe water to more than 5,000 people
• Supported school feeding programs for over 1,200 children
• Implemented interest free microloans for over 100 rural entrepreneurs
• Supplied 9 sewing machines to young tailors launching their businesses
• Delivered daily healthcare access to 50 plus individuals
• Planted more than 14,000 trees
• Over 100 elderly and vulnerable community members supported
