Jobs for 120 people with a disability in Pakistan

June 2011 has an average month in terms of PWDs being hired, but other activities pertaining to the employment programme took place.

A total number of 9 PWDs were placed in employment. 2 organizations from the banking sector were met, and resulted in them committing to hire PWDs from NOWPDP.

What was achieved this month?

• 9 candidates were selected in total in various companies.
• Out of the 21 CVs sent, 2 candidates are awaiting response for the month of June
• A total number of 21 CVs were sent to various companies for interviews

What are we proud of?

Catcos, an outsourcing call center company, invited NOWPDP and held a certificate distribution event, and complimented us for our employment generation programme.

The event also supported us by getting us connected to the president of P@SHA (Pakistan Software Houses Association) who is keen to partner with NOWPDP in future to find employment for people with disabilities in the IT industry.

May has been a successful month in terms of placing PWDs in gainful employment. A total number of 12 candidates across 3 types of disabilities were employed, namely deaf, intellectually challenged and physically challenged.

Some new multinationals were approached, who were very keen on hiring in the future. 

What was achieved this month?

• 12 candidates were selected in total in various companies.
• 2 employment camps were held for the deaf and mute and the visually impaired respectively
• A new evaluation questionnaire form was created and sent to all companies who are our present employers.

What are we proud of?

• 2 separate employment/evaluation camps were held for the deaf and the visually impaired and about 20 candidates were evaluated.

What companies did we meet, or that agreed to take PWDs?

• A total number of 5 companies were contacted, and 2 were met with personally, and both seemed keen on the idea of hiring PWDs. They were National Foods and Karachi Duty Free.
• Others were AKSWB, Pharmatec and Walls Ice-cream.
